Same! I am not a musician (nor could I be...zero talent), but my favorite part of these videos is watching how full-bodied the drum playing truly is. I never realized drum kits had so many crazy parts/pieces. I've never seen one up close--and the drummers are usually the farthest people from the front of the stage, where you can't really see what they're doing. I mean, you see the energy it takes to play, but not all the highly coordinated movements. It's quite amazing.

I remember seeing the summer set at warped tour in like 2013 in Hartford Ct. i watched summerset play on the stage in the middle of the afternoon and i will NEVER forget watching jess drum. ​@@monifamonifa1 In my opinion, when you like music, even if you don't like certain genere and it's a song that gets played on the radio, it's hard that you never heard it before. There's a difference between knowing the song and had heard it before, so, I do believe she didn't knew the song, but I don't believe she never listen to it before, the song was released like 4-5 years before I was born, in my house my dad was not a huge fan of them, but still I knew what song it was, but the difference is that even tho I never studied music as an art but anthropologically, I've listened from tribal music to classic, to mariachi and black Norwegian metal. The thing is, that when a band represents a social movement like them, or like the sex pistols, ska-p, Molotov, etc. It's hard not to know their work, not because of the music itself but fot what it represents socially.

She was so down on herself and criticizing her own take on a song she'd never heard before when she truly killed it! Sad to see but not surprising considering the backlash we tend to get from other drummers. It's like they're just waiting to pounce when we fuck up one stroke when they'd never do that to their favorite male drummers.

Yeah, Rage used a lot of primal beats in their songs and let Tom explore the room with his unique guitar wizardry. The drums were used more as a thump than a musical instrument at times, which is probably what made them so good. If Brad were back there using a lot of fills, double bass, complex signatures, etc it probably would have drowned out Zack’s crucial lyrics and Tom’s riffs somewhat.
