You can know it instinctively especially if you have a piano to play around with, if you play enough chords you'll hear it anytime something sounds wrong and you can do trial and error till you get what you want. :)

I also like how they told him that, and then told him to transpose it down 7 semitones,which isn't even a perfect 5th lol

AHA! That's exactly what I was thinking. Friends come on the stream and tell him to drop it 5 or 7 semitones and he's like: -__- . I honestly didn't know this was possible, but I suppose it's like people who study foreign languages for grammar instead of actually being able to hold a conversation.

Some people can make music just by sound alone. My brother can play very many songs on piano (20+), mostly pop songs, or songs from games like the Mii channel theme, but he plays them perfectly without ever learning how to play the piano or read music and it takes him a very short time to learn a new song.

@notsafef0rlife3 жыл бұрын
Wait he doesn't know music theory? This suddenly gives me so much confidence. I love art in all mediums and I hope to try making music someday but it's so intimidating. Good to know I can just make bangers
@lurkenvoncurken5182 жыл бұрын
@@notsafef0rlife I've discovered that knowing theory does not necessarily make you a good musician and the inverse, not knowing theory, does not necessarily make a bad musician. Raw talent can make either case true, but in my opinion your ability to practice and hone your craft rigorously decides whether you sink or float. This fine man is a perfect example of the latter being true, a person who doesn't know theory being a great musician. On the other hand, musicians like Jacob Collier who live and breathe theory are just as skilled. What I'm trying to say is that it is the work you put in to hone your craft is thing that makes or break you. Personally, I've been producing and pretty much involved in music seriously for 2 years. In that time I learned 4 instruments, learned music theory, and became adept at production. I've also been limited by time and resources, so I've only had FL Studio Mobile and a pair of cheap Bluetooth headphones. Still, I work day and night to improve and expand my knowledge, and it has paid and will continue to pay. And I was not born with inherent musically skill either. I could go on and on but I'll save your time. So the *actual tl:dr is that you just have to put the work in, regardless of if you know the science or not.
