Freeform Crochet ~ Beginning Shapes

Free-form crochet is a fun and liberating style of crochet. Check out my Introduction to Free-form Crochet video in the description box below. In this tutorial, you will learn some of the beginning shapes for freeform crochet. These are shapes such as circle, shell, square, triangle, rectangle, and random shapes. Use any of these as the foundation for your free-form crochet scrumble.

Hi Patricia! I used to crochet a lot, mostly Afghans. I want to get back into crochet and I was so excited to find Freeform Crochet!!! I have never seen nor heard of it. I always was looking for different patterns and I have Mixed patterns looking for something different and LOOKY HERE ! This definitely caught my attention! Thank you so very much!!! Wow, this looks like such fun! I'm watching videos of freeform in prep of starting my own soon. I'm doing a rotation of wips. I work on one for a week and then rotate in my list of wips. The first wip I finish will come off the list. I will replace that number in the list with doing freeform crochet. The wip I'm doing this week is very close to finishing. I just found this tutorial. I'm going to go look at more of your tutorials. Thanks, I'm getting excited.

Oh thanks so much for doing this free form crochet series! It’s valuable for many reasons, including artistic expression & creativity but also for pattern design, I’m realizing. Lately I’ve been seeing some cool patterns (such as the Hand of Fatima, the evil eye protection motif etc) I couldn’t understand how they figured out the shaping to design such things in crochet . I’m starting to get it!

Ok, what is the question? You can use freeform crochet to make one big scrumble and simple continue to crochet on the same piece.

This is a basic concept...feel free to be as free as you like! People need to start somewhere and then open up as they become more comfortable with the technique.
