Hanna had just told Caleb that she never stopped loving him and then just told him it was just them going back to the past “only for a minute “ , which was her saying it meant nothing, so of course he’s confused because he thinks he just got played (which we as the viewers know he wasn’t). Knowing this, of course he’s going to try and convince himself that being with Spencer is the better choice and tries to fix his relationship with her. It’s not like he didn’t have feelings for her at all, b/c unfortunately he did, but he just simply wasn’t in love with her, and that’s something that cannot be helped.

Why does PLL always have the most emotional scenes. I swear. Spencer didn’t want to hurt Hanna. You could see when Caleb starts talking and Spencer looks at Hanna to see how she’s reacting. This scene brings me to tears because of Hanna and Caleb’s past relationship and how Caleb has moved on with one of her best friends. Not to mention, he was talking about one of the nights he began falling in love with her best friend. That to me is heartbreaking.

Hannah still loved Caleb but it took her too long to realise it and couldn’t tell spencer bc she felt bad for how she felt. I don’t hate on the couple, but when they were in high school- they were really one of the cutest. But ever since the 5 year gap, everything made sense for Caleb and Spencer to be together. He was so mature for his age even in high school. And she was always the smart one. Both of them are clicking and the chemistry they had… seriously I understand what they did to hanna is not fantastic, but to be real she had a fiancé and she told Spencer to go for it. I’m rewatching PLL, and I still stand by my original opinion that Spencer and Caleb should’ve been end game. They had so many little moments as friends that led up to their relationship. Those two fell in love with each other, and they really complemented each other. The truth is that outside of rosewood Hannah & Caleb didn’t work, and neither did Toby & Spencer. They grew up, and Spaleb was a much better fit as adults. I’m pretty sure if they hadn’t been lured back by A, Hannah would’ve married her Jordan (her fiancé), and Spencer and Caleb would’ve ended up together.
