Sir, very good conference regarding activities of templesin various states in our country,the thing is that for example in current covid19 pandamic around the world ,I read in local news papers that in tirupati Balaji temple due to current pandamic they don't have enough money to pay the servants of the temple,kahane ka Matlab hai ki abhitakka devoties ka Dan kaha Gaya hoga ki itna bada reach temple hone ke bad bhi that means there is mismanagement of amount given by devoties,for that there should be financial audit should have to be carried out regularly with out fail& their should be proper govt watch on the trustees also

BABAJI KI JAI HO. Please point out such temples and do not make vague comments. Do you know what is the salary of the Temple Poojari. It is Rs. 550 per month in Karnataka. Poojari is also supposed to acquire flowers and oil within his salary. Whatever money you put in the Daanapeti, goes to the Municipal Commissioner (ie. the government). Do you know what is the salary of the sweeper appointed by the Government at these temples? It is Rs. 6000 per month. Please do not insult the Brahmins who have already been suffering due to inequality due to reservations. They are still continuing their service at temples just because they feel it is their moral obligation.

If you have been to Chennai I would site two small location one at a place called mandaveli there use to be two small temple on them road side both on the either side of the road. Government bull dosed one of the temple for the sake of road expansion. Second one is near santhome church there is a real road blockage but government diverts the traffic but didn't plan to expand the road. This was my reply for big and bigger temples. Coming to bhramin issues which u raised what's wrong in giving them when they are doing god's work.

Give the pujari who does puja for us. Pavan Kumar yes I totally agree with you, however, I think the point sankaran made was that anything can be termed ‘a way of life’ and for the Supreme Court to label it this simple unobservant way is unhelpful. After all Islamic guidelines regarding dress, food, music, personal hygiene etc will lead to a particular way of life. Mushkan’s observation is also correct, that we simply don’t know how to define ourselves. This is related to the fact that we define ourselves using the vocabulary of the islamics and Christians. We don’t have a term for ‘God’ which has a particular mindset and imagery associated about it. Our terms generally relate to different ideas, concepts and things.

@Pavan Kumar hinduism despite its diversity has certain basic tenets all Hindus believe in. The authority of the vedas and thereby the upanishads, the Gita as a book with universal teachings, the four ways of salvation- karma, raja, gyan and bhakti, principally an amalgamation of all four. All believe in the theory of karma. And the merging of the individual soul ( atman) into the universal soul or Consciousness ( paramatman) which is moksha or salvation. Hindus believe in the immortality of the soul, rebirth and reincarnations. They choose a deity as per family tradition or personal inclination but believe all ways to be legit ways to God for a sincere aspirant. Even non hindu ones. That is the hindu religion. It is both a religion and a way of life.

The solution is very simple. Are we invalid that we would go to the PM for everything ? He's only interested in appeasement policy. Incredibly informative presentation, by the lawyer Sai Deepak. ! Article 25 of the India constitution may be the only amendment in a democratically constructed constitution where one particular group of people are purposeful discriminated against. Note that the US Constitution feed the slaves almost 100 year after the original constitution classified black people as slaves. Additionally, the US constitution was changed to give women the right to vote 137 years after US constitution was written. Constitutions must be flexible documents to evolve with the moral ethos of evolving eras. Article 25 must be reinterpreted for the 21 century!

Powerful arguments and revealing facts on how Hindu religious institutions have been made subservient to Govt-appointed 'officials'. Sadly, Hindus, despite being a majority, have always remained low-profile and didn't even fight for their legitimate rights as Said Deepak mentions in his talk so often. In recent times, it's become fashionable to oppose Hindu rites and rituals and the paid-media has actively given a platform for such delinquent voices. I was shocked to know that most State Govts have laws making 'administration' of temple Trusts a Govt 'responsibility' and have been using it even for Haj subsidies and Christians' 'welfare'. Am not sure many Hindus know this in India, not that I expect docile & submissive Hindus to do anything about it. Revelations in the talk reinforce my belief that India has always been a pseudo-secular pseudo-democracy. Hindus be aware that thanks to politicians' untiring efforts in appeasing the 'minority' community, India will soon become an Islamic Republic, and that will mean Sharia Laws will apply across India, and Hindus will either have to flee their motherland of millenia / centuries, or live in servility to Muslims. Guess, considering their tolerance for abuse of their rights by Govts for over 70 years, Hindus won't that either.

An example of a temple in Palani, TN. Of the total Hundi money deposited in banks,14 per cent goes as administration fees, 4 per cent as audit fees (Section 92), 25-40 per cent as salaries and 1-2 per cent for prayers and other festival expenses. Between 4-10 per cent of the total collections go to the ‘Commissioner Common Good Fund’ (Section 97). Further, money is transferred to various popular schemes run by the government like free meals and marriages. Around 65-70% of funds are splurged in non temple expenses. Even the archakas are paid a meagre salary. Its like the state taking control of temples by its own wish, and also getting paid for doing it.

Very well researched and presented. Hits the nail on the head. We should raise this issue at every forum - electronic, physical, etc and every social medium that has wide reach. If the Governments should sit idle, we must escalate it to Global fora like the UN (although that would involve loss of face to India - but desperate times call for desperate measures). We should ask the Governments of the day nicely to undo the damage to the constitutional rights of the Hindus. If they dont listen, we should take every non-violent means to achieve our goals. Pressure, pressure, and more pressure is the only thing that works. Else vote the bums out. Ask nicely, sue with determination, and vote with intent; rinse and repeat until clean.

I can relate this as well - My father used to say that when he was in his youth the land of Mylapore Kapaleeswarar temple was used by the state for the construction of Housing board apartments/ Slum clearance board ( this land is next to the current flying train station) -My father was one amount the people who protested but he used to feel bad that their were hardly 15 people to protest-Reason 1. At that time -the political atmosphere was completely different 2.It was perceived that the temple belongs only to only one community-though this was not the case and hence when their was a problem to the temple the general public never participated 3.Temples had huge land adjustment/surrounding them -they used get huge amount as rent -the then government wanted to have this cash cow 4.Media was very much in the hands of few -who drove the narrative 5.The politician shared his spoils with the public as well - " when a housing board apartment / slum clearance apartment was built the officials and politicians took there share and gave the balance to the public -( Public getting things for free never questioned -This is what socialism does to ppl -you don't earn things you get thins" 6.At that time it was the goonda raj and many people were afraid 7.Popluar industrialist never wanted to raise this issues since it was more of a license raj and you cant run your business without the state support 8.During election during that period - their was Pacca Rouge from a particular political party who won the election from this locality and not a dissent person who was opposing him 9. One more important thing the rent collected is at market rate -If the rent for a property near a temple is Rs 30,000 per month - the tenant is asked to pay only 5000 Rs to the temple administration/government in check the balance Rs 25000 is paid to the respective area political representative in cash - How can you prove this fraud -No one will testify in the court of law
