@Pin Apple It speaks about how the human body has 6-7 major chakras (nerve plexuses) situated in different parts of the body. Sabarimala is last of 6 places in the pilgrimage. Pilgrimage is supposed to be to followed in a particular order. Each temple is situated in a way that stimulates a particular cluster of nerves in your body (goes from genitals to brain) I haven't been there yet, but the author (woman) claims to have felt some pain/sensation in the particular areas where the nerve plexuses were situated. Sabarimala is related to the topmost plexus in the brain.. excessive stimulation of this area leads to decrease in activity of the reproductive plexus. Hence the ban on menstruating/reproductive age group women, as excessive stimulation does happen in Sabarimala. Lord Ayyappa was a celibate himself.. the author says she wrote down the book as she traveled. But after Sabarimala she took weeks before she could get over the urge to become celibate and leave her life behind and go to Sabarimala and live there forever with Lord Ayyappa. Even in her menstrual cycle, she had irregularities despite having a normal one previously. I think it is worth going just to satisfy one's curiosity before we term this complicated science as simply misogyny.
