I've honestly never thought about how terrifying gordon must be to other people. Man's moving a mile-a-minute, blasting people and acting completely insane. He is literally dodging bullets sometimes, too.
@SgtP4in2 жыл бұрын
God, I love the shotgun scene: between both the door kick and just everything to do with the shotgun: the smoke, the shells, the racking of the slide, everything. I also adore all the fast, agile movement, like the leap over the table, it feels perfect in representing the frantic, fast way Gordon moves. Also, very nice touch with the tank interior shot, and Freeman's muffled, mad shouting.
@michaelmaage2 жыл бұрын
It really catches how crazy (and terrifying) he actually is. But given how insane the NPC's acts in HL2 (as shown in Freeman's Mind 2: Episode 16), he fits right in.

I love the little details in the tank section. When the Abrams shoots and misses Freeman, part of the building behind him crumbles, leaving large pieces of debris and blowing out the glass in the process. We also get to see the crew inside the M1 being comepletely dumbfounded hearing Gordon harassing them with a crowbar from the outside. Little details like this I find underappreciated in animation and film making and I think you did a really good job with these small scenes.

Absolutely amazing! That segue after The bullet hit him right into the firefight was perfect, I also love his screams of rage outside the tank while he’s bludgeoning it. Also the look on the two soldiers faces perfectly captures on how you should react when hearing that shit. i’d probably shit myself, then blow up my own soldier buddies with my grenades, because accuracy isn’t a strong suit in the HECU-

Honestly I cant remember. I usually prioritize the lip sync before I do any other animation to make sure it's as good as it can be. I vaguely remember that scene being frustrating. It’s something… seeing Gordon act in 3rd person REALLY highlights to me how dangerous he is. I mean the training level aside, what kind of world is Half-life that a scientist is a better trained soldier than a specialist unit of the marine corps? I mean FMverse Gordon seems kinda like someone crazy enough to actually know how to fight the way he does. Like all the shit he talks could be backed up in an instant. And on that note, there’s very few times where it’s implied that he’s actually “talking” It’s freeman’s MIND, after all. That means in his mind, he babbles insane gibberish when he gets scared, and goes on deranged tangents about everything that happens around him, and even starts to go insane and stop justifying his killings as “self defense.” It’s tragic, but hilarious. That we watch an educated dude with bad habits that CAN be a prick, degrade into a paranoid trigger-happy nutcase. I hate to see how he’s gonna deal with his monicker “The One Free Man” when the resistance starts to just short of worship him. Although… I noticed he held his fire and told one of the first Metrocops to drop his gun before retaliating. So Gordon’s not completely gone. Yet.

Seeing the comments of this video put something into perspective; One man who watched Die hard too many times takes on the entire US forces + an invading Alien force, screaming the whole time, or talking to himself like a lunatic. And he still won. That's kinda horrifying when you think about it. (Edit: Great vid by the way. Animations and flow was honestly amazing.)
