Your lessons are incredibly clear, engaging, and never fail to get the point across in the simplest yet most descriptive manner. I'll indefinitely be in your debt for helping me make it through this class and I hope that your lessons will come in help in calc next semester.

You really are one of the best math teachers ive ever had ! ive forgotten math from 10 yrs ago and re-jogging my memory to tutor someone. You make it so easy to understand and remember all the rules/techniques. All your videos are online and recorded which makes me really question why it is so hard for HS teachers to do remote learning during covid. If you can do it on youtube why cant they do it on zoom? Now the kids refusing to pay attention...that happens in an in-person class too and theres nothing you can do.

Why don't all of the techniques give the same answer? As in, if I factor a trinomial, but want to check and see if I did it correctly by using the Quadratic Equation, why do I get different root values? For some reason, the signs reverse and I don't understand it.

There is also another silly way of solving quadratics. The discriminant method x² -x -2 = 0 x = 1 ± sqrt[(-1)² - 4(1)(-2)]/2(1) x = 1 ± sqrt(9)/2 x = 1 ± 3/2 x = 1 + 3/2 = 2 x = 1 - 3/2 = -1 And now we can ofcourse factor it and flip the signs for the answers. (x + 1)(x - 2) = 0 x = -1 x = 2 This is basically brute forcing the quadratic formula to produce factors but it is useful when you only have to find factors of hard quadratics. Solving using factoring x² - x + 2 = 0 (x + 1)(x - 2) = 0 x = -1 x = 2 Using completing the square Don' t use it for this example the results might get a bit fractional.

If the quadratic equation is not factorable, the leading coefficient is one and the second coefficient is even, then I complete the square. If it's not factorable, the leading coefficient is one and the second coefficient is odd, then I use the quadratic formula. x=[-b±√(b^2-4ac)]/2a

When possible, factoring is cool, but I prefer using the Singaporean method. It's easier for me to see that way. I also like Completing The Square, but when I do it, I use an area model. When the middle term is odd, I often multiply the whole equation by something first, so I won't have to deal with fractions. This approach is what Dr. James Tanton calls the Quadrus method. The Quadratic Formula is my least favorite. I find all the reduction annoying.
