The fact that of the two versions of the machine, you put the best one in the garage gym and the second best in the gym gym is the most Coop thing ever.

I'm surprised with some of the negative reviews. I was so impressed with the kzbin.infoUgkxMwYg0MOXR4M-oGeyBsNSYe1aPOUoRH6D cage that I got the lat pulldown attachment that goes with it. It is equally outstanding. I don't have one complaint other than putting it together is a job. The instructions and packaging of the parts are very well designed and organized. Also, I stripped and damaged the pull down cable the first day, admitting it was my stupid fault, and they quickly replaced it at no charge. I'm 6'5, 280lbs and fit in the cage just fine. Glenn B

About 10 years ago I was up late one night surfing the web and decided to check out 2nd hand gym equipment. I came across an online auction for this machine. A gym was closing down and all the equipment was being liquidated. I bid $1,000.00 just for the fun of it, and low and behold I was the lucky bidder. Couldn't believe it. Anyhow its been in my garage ever since and is a key piece in my workout arsenal. Built like a tank and almost bomb proof. Coop's right, it's simply the best!

Coop, I want to thank you for these recommendations as I found this exact model locally and had it delivered. It really is well built and the cables and stainless steel are really nice. The new ones are great too but the lack of plastic and build quality here have me impressed. Its really a great addition for the accessory exercises and it does not take up much space at all. I had a hoist functional trainer and am so glad I sold it during covid and found this as its much more versatile especially since I have a power rack for the pull ups, bench etc...

That is so crazy that you posted this video! I just picked up the same machine on Saturday! I ended up getting it for a really good price because everybody that showed up to buy the machine couldn't move it. They weigh over 1,200 lb fully assembled. I had to remove both weights stacks and both arm assemblies to transport it. It was from a rehabilitation center that was closing down. It was just shy of being brand new! An awesome addition to my garage gym. And it was wife approved!

I picked up one of these for $1000 and it's basically brand new. The person had it listed on offer up as "exercise equiptment" with no tags. I knew what it was right away. A moving company had obtained it after the rich owner let them keep it because he had too many workout machines.... The son of the owner had me back up my trailer to a 5ft loading doc, and somehow the two of us got the main tube into the trailer by lifting it from the loading dock upright into the trailer. Worth the tremendous and terrifying effort to say the least ;)

I have this machine in my home gym, it came in several flat boxes, so I assembled it. Heavy as hell, can’t even imagine trying to move this beast fully assembled. I was spending most of my time on this machine at the gym, so figured I’d just buy one, yeah it was expensive but for me it’s worth it, but you definitely need the ceiling height. I checked out the Tonal wall unit, that thing is not much cheaper than the FM Ext, but you have a subscription fee and a selection of virtual PTs and programs to follow. Great video💪🏼
@CalebRox
@CalebRox 3 жыл бұрын
I would actually disagree with you. I would put this dual-adjustable crossover machine as one of the top "must-buys" for a home gym because it allows you to pretty much do any exercise optimally and efficiently. For example, instead of the lat pulldowns, you can do one-arm lat pull-ins, which have better range of motion and bypass the bilateral deficit. Check out Doug Brignole's BRIG-20 - 20 of the best exercises, most of which are done with cables on the FreeMotion.

I've got a Tuff Stuff PS-245.2x FT (like Athlean-X) and the Keiser FT. While the Tuff Stuff FT has arms that move in 2-planes, the Keiser doesn't need to have this feature, IMHO. NOTE: Keiser FT can only provide a max of about 55lbs of resistance (per arm) but you can attach the cable ends (from each arm) together using a properly rated carabiner from Home Depot and the total resistance will then DOUBLE (while only providing a single attachment point when doing so) when using the aforementioned carabiner. The Keiser FT uses 1 continuous rope for its cable. When using 1 arm, by itself, the 'cable' length of the Keiser FT will span about 12 feet. If using both Keiser FT arms at once, the 'cable' length will be reduced to about 6 feet for each arm.

Am I right in thinking the arms only go up & down on the single stack version, rather than in & out as well? I have the Nordic Track single stack machine, which as far as I can tell is exactly the same as a Freemotion machine but with different stickers on it. Unfortunately it's arms on mine only go up & down & not in & out, which I find extremely limiting so I'm selling it & upgrading to the Freemotion Dual stack.

IMO the areas they've "cheaped out" on for the new ones are totally acceptable. Who cares if the flashing that you never touch is plastic. The areas that could get damaged or are high use are still metal. That being said the pedal for adjustment is pretty sweet, though is also another point of maintenance/failure. Have used these many times at various Globo gyms and they're the best I've ever used.

I know it is not the best but I use a bowflex for a lot of my accessory movements. I still have my rack, barbells, and dumbbells, but the bowflex give me a lat pull down attachment, a leg extension/hamstring attachment. It has high and low positions for press downs or reverse flys. For the cheap price you can find them used it is hard to complain about it.

COOP! Is there any possible way you could go into depth on what the shipping and packaging look like and how it was delivered? I would like to know more about how I’m going to physically get this from my front door into my gym which is actually around the back of my house and somewhat hard to get to. Thanks brother keep doing what you do!

So I know this may be a weird one, but I have a bowflex revolution machine that is lighter smaller and works just like a free standing functional trainer. Might not be quite as over kill as this but it works amazingly well and has a leg press

Great video(s) thanks! Have you ever thought about the Mi6 from Hoist for home gym? We were advised that the quality if way superior to all the other brands.

I’d love to find something like this for around the same price of the Tonal. That thing looks like you’d be lucky if it still works a decade in, but something sturdy like the Freemotion could last a lifetime with proper maintenance.

What is the model number of your Freemotion with the foot pedals? I'm guessing its the GZFM6024.4 which came out in 2004.

This is one of the most versatile pieces of equipment I’ve ever used in any gym I’ve ever worked in; it’s basically the closest you can get to a combination functional trainer/cable crossover. It’s biggest drawback is the low available resistance. The only thing I would compare is a Keiser functional trainer but 💰💰💰and compressed air resistance 😬

75lbs effective at each handle. Plenty of resistance for the exercises you would be doing on this.... for your 200lb plus lat pulldowns you have a separate standalone if you can afford this

I have a functional trainer in my home gym but don't have a squat rack. I was in rehab for a peck tare and found a Golds Gym Functional trainer on Facebook market place for $300. Getting it i could do the same exercises at home that the therapist had me doing so it made sense for me to purchase it.

Lucky. My apartment has one of the fixed/corner style FTs and it gets the job done for the most part but my local big box gym has one of these Freemotion ones and it is so much better. That being said the limited weight really restricts what you can use it for. Would love to use my apartment one for rows but ~70lbs just doesn't cut it. I've tried using both stacks at once for it but the angles are awkward.

Ok I have a serious question. I want to but one for my home gym. I want one of the older “good ones” however I live in a normal home with small rooms and 8 foot ceilings. Will this even work for me?? If not then what do you recommend? Thanks
