Dennis was more than just the drummer, he was an incredible songwriting talent... I've probably got one of the biggest collections of Beach Boys/Brian Wilson material in the world, more than 1,200 CDs, 100 books, DVDs galore and other stuff... and if I was asked what I treasure most it might just be Pacific Ocean Blue....

This one song has more depth and realism than anything out today! Imagine what Dennis would have been capable of if the drugs didn't take him down. The 60's and 70's really were a rock/pop golden age and while there is some good music out there today if you can find ..overall music has literally died.

CAN ANYBODY WRITE DOWN THE CORRECT LYRICS ? AWESOME SONG, I LOVE DENNIS SOLO STUFF
@BenCulture9 жыл бұрын
There's no question this is a beautiful composition, but if you ask me to choose between Dennis's voice and Marilyn Wilson's (the American Spring cover), I'm gonna choose Marilyn every time. Dennis ruined his voice before ruining one's voice was cool. I don't get how people can listen to an entire album of his singing. Sorry. I mean, yes, of course he _emoted_ well, his performances are generally _moving,_ but songs like "Forever" worked because he had -a choir of angels- the Beach Boys to back him up with lush harmonies. I also especially love "Be With Me" and "Celebrate the News".
@freepasport9 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your nice comment. I love this song but didn't know Marilyn covered it. I've just listened to her cover. She is really a good singer having so sweet and gentle voice. Luckily, I had a chance to go to Beachboys Live concert , "The 50th Reunion Tour", held on August 2012 in Japan. Their harmoney was excellent! I wish Dennis were alive now....

Ben Culture Except that this song was written and recorded several years before Dennis ruined his voice with drugs and alcohol; this is his voice pure and entirely undamaged - so what are you talking about?
@BenCulture9 жыл бұрын
Thomas Ogg Okay. That's fine. If you insist, have it that way: No excuses. . . . But seriously, bullshit: Dennis was smoking before the Beach Boys even existed. Of course, Carl and Brian both picked up the habit eventually, which literally killed Carl, but at least those two sounded "pure" for a reasonable amount of time (I don't know that Carl's voice EVER deteriorated). Dennis was sounding rough as early as "Girls on the Beach".
@GR33TINGSEARTHL1NGS7 жыл бұрын
this is one of the most pure sounding voices you could ask for. smoke or no, a pleasure to listen to
@thomasogg6026 жыл бұрын
Yep. I mean even it were true that Dennis had ruined his voice at this stage - which he clearly hadn't - it still doesn't change the fact that he sounds fantastic and positively overflowing with straight-from-the-heart emotion. Quite how anyone could prefer Marilyn's wooden performance is beyond me, but hey ho...

@freepasport10 жыл бұрын
Thank you for stopping by and listening to Dennis's song . This is not a song from sunflower. It's from " Summer Love Songs ". This album was created and mixed by Mark Linett compiled in 2009.

It’s from a Dennis Wilson solo project with Daryl Dragon of the Captain & Tennille called Dennis Wilson and Rumbo. “Sound Of Free” and “Lady” were released as a 45 rpm single.
