Full length flight into class c airspace. I obviously made some mistakes in this video, but even an instructor can learn from his mistakes. Watch these touch and goes with full ATC audio.

I know I commented once already, but this is such a great video because it demonstrates everything a PIC needs to be concerned with at once: controlling the aircraft, gusts, instrumentation, keeping vigilant on watching for air traffic, all while making radio calls! This is why it’s difficult but rewarding to fly. Love the process of flying into class charlie airspace.

Great video. Shows how those pesky holes can start to line up on you. Vacuum pump making low suction, didn’t really think too much about it so caught off guard when the HSI was useless, led to being in a weird spot on base, plus the communication getting a little jumbled with approach trying to tell you about a helicopter while you were trying to correct your heading, plus miscommunication about landing vs option, plus gusty winds, just kind of made for a meh approach and landing.

Rusty Old Pilot here thinking about getting current again. Your videos are excellent, to the point, and entertaining! Most importantly they are very helpful and getting my wheels turning again! Love the videos in and around NLR. I live in northern Missouri now but learned to fly there (Tomahawks) in the mid-90s and even worked for Harry Barrett part time for a while to earn flight hours. Your videos bring back a lot of memories! Was stationed at LRAFB as well in both the 61st & 53rd AS (Avionics Technician). Great videos! Keep them coming!

We have to get a clearance in our class C airport, Then taxi to hold short line, attempt to call ground ( very busy and have to make sure you do not step on anyone) and prey that you are not stuck at the hold short line for to long. After cleared, you have to follow other planes on the taxiway. Then after your run-up you have to call ground again, listen for like 5 minutes to get in a call in edge wise, then they finally clear you to taxi and monitor tower. Then you have to wait another 10 or so minutes before you are cleared for take-off due to all of the landing and aircraft in front of you. Like 737 jets and so on. The whole process can take anywhere from 20 to 40 min. Ugg. Then when you are flying back into the airport, you have to call So-Cal approach and listen for like 5 minutes again to get the radio call in edge wise. Circle so that you do not enter the Charlie airspace until two way comm is established. Such a production getting in and out of John Wayne Airport - Class C.

Just wanted to come by and say thank you. Like I said I’ve been binging watching your channel. I finally enrolled into an online ground school (King) yesterday and am really enjoying already knowing a bunch of the information they’re offering (because of you).

As always, great video man. I have my PPL checkride scheduled this upcoming week. I’ve watched all your videos multiple times over. I feel ready. Thank you for what you are doing. I’m looking forward to progressing to instrument, keep them coming sir.

First off, love your videos! As a matter of fact, I'm just now doing a review of the E6B with your video! I did all my flight training in a Cessna 172 (F and N models), and after I got my PPL certificate, I did get checked out in a Cherokee 140. Now I own a Beechcraft Musketeer, so here is a hint when climbing into these smaller low wing planes. When you step up onto the wing, turn facing the back and place your right knee on the right seat, then simply roll over to the left seat. So much easier. Oh, make sure that flap bar is down :) Keep up the great work.

Great job; I had no idea you did flight videos as well. Anyway, the first time I flew into a Class C (KJAX), the tower had me do three '360''s for separation. That was fun. Then on final I could see a heavy jet holding short, waiting for me in my little Musketeer. For some reason that gave me a thrill. I also record with a GoPro 7, and I've never had it overheat. It's on a base either on the windscreen or mounted on the dash. My iPad, on the other hand does overheat. And I'm in North Florida.

Reason for the hard start was most likely the mags being on both. Pipers with an ignition as such, the mags should be on left only due to the impulse coupler.

Just found this vid. I feel the same way about the seat on the warrior, Archer, Arrow. One position is a little too close, and one is a stretch to get full brake and defection on one side. I always make the call on how the winds are doing. Light winds, and a long flight... I'm back. If it's gusty, and I know I'm fighting a xwind on landing.... I'm up close. (and higher than normal) as always... a great vid.

If you take the battery out of the go pro while you have it plugged into a power source it will run a little cooler because its not simultaneously charging the battery.

Dude! I've been binge watching your PPL course and it's amazing! Your fun personality and detailed explanations has help speed up my learning period. I do have a big question though. How did you afford to begin your piloting journey? I am 19 and looking for a career in aviation but don't know how/where to start. Your courses have given me a thirst for knowledge, but I think I'll go crazy without applying it all. Thanks again for providing these super educational videos! You're awesome!

1965 Cherokee 140 owner: FYI - my POH dictates that you start on the left magneto (pulse) once the engine settles (couple seconds) switch to both. I know I’m 7 months late to the party but I thought I’d share that. Those generic check lists are just that - generic. All that said - FINALLY someone who also teaches from the Piper low wing perspective. I’ve grown tired of the Cessna assumptions.

I didn’t know you were in Jacksonville , Dad was stationed there when I was born many years ago . My brother was a flight engineer in C-130s before they did away with them.
