Many years ago I had a tiny "Bolens" brand (600cc Briggs & Stratton 2 cylinder horizontally opposed petrol engine) tractor for rotary hoeing our sandy horse property of 5 acres. It came with a hydraulic 3 point linkage which connected to a grass cutter between the front and rear wheels, and amazingly allowed a dozer blade to be adjustable on the front too. All accomplished via clever linkages as required for each separate task. I was so impressed with the versatility of it that I made a carry-all for the rear, similar to that shown in your latest video. It could carry a full 44 gallon drum of water for kick-starting our Tasmanian Oak 🌳 trees which we planted as essential shade for the horses.

Its great to see you improving your skills Troy, and you know that carry-all isn't going to let you down because YOU made it, you're not going to get a split/fracture at a weld seem or anything nor is the mess going to pop off at a most important time. Well done. Maybe you should be taking your improvements back to the company, there might be a contract in it for you or commission? I love how you both enjoy the mundane things in life but make those moments so much more interesting for the rest of us. A big thank you for another great episode.

A couple of suggestions on the carry all. Put in a couple of holes for clevis pins and ad a pair of removable diagonal braces to support the outside corners. Weld on a chain hook, or two, on the top edge. Where the lower hitch pins go through weld on a short bit of pipe so the pin stays straight and doesn't wallow out the hole or loosen the pins. You probably know this by now, but if you lift the front of the tractor with the bucket and then load up the carrier you can nearly double what you can get off the ground.

It's been very wet. What a difference the paddock is, your ALL a great team, doing a great job. Suggestion: Re carry-all - using steel pipe/sleeves, swing hinge the top, not fixed at the bottom, allows it to kick out “if” it hits something. May also allow better tipping angle. You could also hinge both pieces together, so you can fold it up for a tight turn etc, if required.

It’s great to see how effective the pigs and chickens are in taking care of the land. I like the carry-all. I myself like fabricating as well. I have something kind of similar for my 25 hp John Deere. Only 2 changes I’d make. I’d support the 2 lower pins on both for better strength. And, I’d put a couple of steak pockets on the back. That way you could make either a temp wall to install, or just use a couple of pieces of wood if you want to carry some longer items, but don’t want them to fall off. Or just use the as stronger tie down points.

Nice. You should do for your lower pins what you did for the top pin. All that load pushing skew if will enlarge the holes and damage the pins. Carry-all's are great and passengers love them..

Excellent work all around. I may have missed the description, but the connection points of the carry all seem to be a bit loose. Obviously bolts with nuts would be a ripe pain in the backside to take on and off, but the nut snugging up against the tractor framing would secure the pin. I wonder if there is a better way to keep those pins from bouncing up and down while driving and creating tremendous shock loads.

Great vid. Liked learning about all the considerations for the carry-all. I agree with the notion of doing it yourself if you can. Well done. Also enjoyed learning how the pigs and chooks complement each other as you move them over the ground. It seems that you have the right sized pack of pigs, manageable without tipping over in to industrial. Go well.

Great little build! The satisfaction that you will get every time you use it cannot be measured in $. Why did you choose to use box section on the back plate and angle iron on the bottom? You could have made the bottom a bit longer to accommodate the IBC. If it was up to me I would have put the angle iron flat side up to get a flat loading deck (unless it was made for a specific purpose eg. exactly to fit the IBC) Next time make a video while you are making something. It's always more fun watching someone DIY something than watching the professionals do a perfect job.
@FreeRangeLiving2 жыл бұрын
The angle up keeps spools of wire, tools etc from sliding off. It also works to hold planks cut to size/ sheets of ply if a solid floor is needed better than a flush deck. Making the base the same width as a standard IBC would be a smart design move. I'm also going to add cut chain links as tie points in various places.

Pardon a bit of instruction, but your tractor tires are mounted backwards. Tractor tires are directional. The tracks left behind should point the way you were going forward. The reason for the mention is that you greatly increase the torque to the ground if the tread pulls to the middle and locks, rather than pushing the dirt out and digging ruts. Also if you put a bit of antifreeze in those rear tires, it'll help your traction and weight issues in the bucket immensely.
