Hey, a ship that is the first of its class and had no shakedown period is bound to have issues. I love that Volition made it this shoddy, but useful behemoth. Any other game developer would have made it some badass hero ship.

This mission was always maximum frustrating. I disabled 3-4 main beam cannons of the Sathanas in the mission before and the last in this mission. The Colossus was shooting a basically defenseless target but they made it look like it was a tight battle. At the end, Colossus lost 1/3 of their HP because of reactor overloading or whatever bullshit. This was the only thing that bothered me in this game. At this stage they could have destroyed the Sathanas by shooting it with the turrets of a fighter jet for a year straight, no need to damage your own capital ship by setting a new Sathanas destruction time world record.

yeah they handled this one badly so player agency and success had no impact

The Colossus probably got damaged because a piece of Sathanas debris hit them - those things do massive damage lol

2:58 FS2 beam cannons will never not be impressive as all hell in a little fighter bomber.

The MediaVPs package has not been updated to include the new Sathanas model yet. Also, they're actually using a different updated Sathanas model to the one I have, since two were made. Either of them can be found on Hard Light Productions.

Plot twist; even if you don't destroy the beam cannons, the Sathanas doesn't ever fire them.

DkHaku I don't know whether that was true in the original version since it's been ages since I played retail, but I know that it will definitely do so in FSOpen.

Typhlomence Played it recently, Sathanas is castrated in that fight; I left 2 beam cannons operational on purpose but it never fired them.

DkHaku i got polish extra klasyka version of gqme and sathanas is shotting its beam canons i remember that it manage to damage collosus and then sathanas debries destroyed collosus

In the original version the Sathanas DOES fire it's remaining beam cannons if you don't take them out in the Bearbaiting. The Colossus will lose the duel if you don't take them out fairly quickly in this mission. BFReds == overpowered.......

I remember them firing and they rekt everything even with only two operational and that was the original game years ago. I recently reinstalled FSO with the latest mediaVP and it looks so much better lol.

great game but this mission wasn't its high point. No matter how well the player does his job and effectively renders the sathanas helpless, the colossus loses

To be fair, I don't see how the Colossus could win against a gazillion Sathanases, regardless of what the player does.
