Encourage them! You never know how far they may take it. I've got to travel lots and been on TV thanks to this silly talent. Just make sure they stretch their forearms and fingers regularly to avoid any pain or potential for injuries when they get older.

an addition might be to sing or hum or vocally improvise while you snap? also maybe do body music where you play percussion with your hands on various areas of your body kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZOQY4mpepesY7c and you can sing while you do that and there's always drumming on things around you like chair arms and stuff while you sing or hum or improvise music with your mouth

My Dad used to do Curlys snap all the time and as a child I became obsessed and taught myself how to do it. Once I mastered that I kept trying to learn more and play along with music I'd hear and that brings me here.

Hey! Dunno if you reply to comments on this video but judging by you liking a comment from 2 months ago maybe you'll see mine. I developed a tick where I snap my fingers when I get anxious, and I've kinda been able to create beats with it. I'm not sure how long you've been doing this but I'm gonna guess years. So far I can only snap with my middle fingers and fore fingers, and often times it makes a minuscule amount of noise. What's the best way to basically snap louder? And how do you snap with your index finger? I'm so glad I found this video and I think your work is amazing, now I have a goal set for the next 5 years! This talent isn't useless btw, I'd say it substitutes for an instrument, kinda like the beatboxing of string instruments.

Getting a louder snap is about making sure you clap back against your hand in a correct position. You want create a pocket with your fingers and palms. I suggest practicing one handed clapping. Snapping and clapping techniques really support each other. It takes a lot of practice and just make sure not to over do it as it's easy to hurt yourself of you use to much pressure on your fingers.
