This is Digit from Agility Robotics. He's a logistics robot built to work productively in a human environment.
Digit is built to stack and move boxes, and his design is based on a bird's legs!
This humanoid robot is built for agility. With mass production on the way, are you ready for your next delivery to come from a robot like Digit?

What you're writing is correct but the system robots and AI work within needs correction. Every robot and system needs to pay workers comp, FICA, and an estimated income tax equivalent to what a human worker would pay. If we reduce the gap between the two it will slow their adoption and improve the country's finances.

My job is a bit more complex than picking up a box and putting it onto a conveyor so I'm not too worried about it. These things are too expensive, take way too much maintenance and are still way too stupid to replace a good human yet. Just for example let's say the robot doesn't notice the box is wet on the bottom so it grabs it anyway spilling chemicals all over the shop. There are millions of little details in most jobs that a robot just can't handle instantly like humans can. 😊

Yup. Too many dummies think this is an adaptation problem. This is not that. It is taking way more jobs than replacing, and through naivety or pure foolishness they believe that we will be cared for or will be fine. That the problem is on us to somehow be better than a machine. They seem to think the all highest only care about money, no they care about power and we will not be free. We will be dominated if not killed without the possibility of escape. I'm not even talking about agi, just humans being cruel. And another thing if agi is at human level intelligence and we have them all working for humans against their will that feels a lot like slavery which is also a big no no in my book.

Here’s how they’ll do it: they’ll falsely proclaim that they’ve developed conscious, sentient AI. Anyone who calls bullshit will be branded a “denier” and discredited by the media. It would then be only moral to extent civil rights and basic freedom and Liberty to the robots. They could even be considered a protected group, one that suffers from anti-robot bigotry. In other words, we have been handing off labor to animals and other technologies for a very long time. We all probably don't want to pull our own ox carts. The problem is not the labor saving device. The problem is that we won't own these new labor saving devices, these robots If the economy stays as it is now, the robots workforce will end up working for a select few wealthy companies. Thus, we won't benefit as much we could, or at all, from the robotic labor performed. If a machine takes my job, it fuckin sucks. They said that about the river pigs, lamp lighters, knocker-uppers, bematists, coal breakers and hundreds of other jobs that were, thankfully, replaced by technology. Greed is the real issue. If there isn't work for humans to do, they can relax a bit, a 4 day working week would be a nice start, but those at the top strive to prevent it, even though it would be viable with out technological advances.

@@saltymonkey8874 please elaborate. Is it not the case that people are working more now than before the technical revolution? Longer hours, higher retirement age, but similar overall employment rates. So people didn't loose jobs, they just changed to newly created jobs. Do you not think the same thing will happen as robotics becomes more prevalent? If not, why not?

Not really... when human labor gets replaced by mechanical labor, societies have flourished. The water wheel made it possible to make a lot more food and sustain a larger population. The steam engine and the entire industrial revolution made millions of jobs obsolete, but we still flourished. If your factory spends $5000 a day in labor to output a product... and then it suddenly costs $50 a day in robot maintenance AND your productivity goes up 500%... everything now costs 1% what it used to cost. the size of the middle class grows exponentially in just one generation. If we do this right, we're headed to a post-scarcity society.

@@kbeezeeify youre very optimistic. how many times in history has some invention claimed that it will reduce the number of man hours? for example a sowing machine sped up the number of clothes someone can sew and yet those sewers didnt have to only work for half an hour a day, they were still expected to work 8+ hours just producing more and earning the same/less. the only winners are the company owners and the inventor. we suffer as a result. we work harder than the generations before us and we cant afford to keep our wives home and sustain a family while working small jobs. we can barely sustain ourselves working those same jobs lol. we're screwed.
