I visited New Orleans 3 weeks ago. I binged a ton of Andrews “Free Tours by Foot” vids and I was prepared for my week visit. Glad I did too. I did not mind the party goers, weed smoke, homeless, noise or filthy Bourbon St. hahaha Why? Because I was well prepared to visit thanks to these videos and I had much more to explore than just Bourbon St (which is still awesome!) I fell in love with this city and it has called to me everyday after I left that I am returning in two months. ❤️❤️❤️

Andrew, have you ever considered doing a documentary? You know a lot of details about New Orleans past that would actually be interesting in a documentary format. For instance, the Native American trade routes and interaction with the French and Spanish settlers. You have a great voice for that type of project.

We were in New Orleans for 6 days in October 2023 for those interested we found some great restaurants: 1) Gallier's Restaurant & Oyster Bar - great charbroiled oysters! 2) Oceana Grill - love the charbroiled oysters there also as well as The Taste of New Orleans. 3) Blue Oak BBQ - great wings, brisket and pulled pork. 4) Vacherie - great egg sandwiches for breakfast. 5) Antoine's Restaurant - super expensive but a nice place to dine. We had oysters and shrimp & grits. For those who want to hear jazz, we went to Maison Bourbon twice. No charge to enter but you must buy a drink every set and should tip the band when they come around with the tip jar. Enjoy!

Side note: Congo square. The old jail (the real old one not there anymore). 1891 New Orleans lynching. 11 Italians were hung and hunted down one night. The biggest lynching in Americas history. We just returned from New Orleans. We stayed at the Roosevelt and frankly found Canal Street somewhat terrifying. : 0 ( I wish they would do something about the street people. Investing in housing and treating the homeless population would benefit the city, imo. Also, what is with having no public bathrooms and no businesses allowing you to use theirs even when you're spending money in them? We were literally forced to leg it back to our hotel every time we needed a quick bathroom break. IMO, that's unacceptable. We would have explored more and definitely spent more $$ had we been allowed to use a restroom while we were out. New Orleans could learn a thing or 10 from Vegas with respect to being visitor friendly.
@FreeToursbyFootHQ3 жыл бұрын
Hi Leslie. Many places were not allowed to offer public restrooms unless the health inspector had ok'd them for Covid compliance. The city should have done something to accommodate visitors better. Things have recently changed though.
@backyardbreeze1123 жыл бұрын
@@FreeToursbyFootHQ We went from May 19th - May 23rd. There was quite literally nowhere to use a restroom unless you were sitting down to eat at a full service restaurant or at your hotel. You can only eat so much during the day and even places like Subway, Smoothie King or CVS...all places we spent money would not allow you into their restrooms. Our hotel required a key card to get into the lobby bathrooms so I assume that's the norm with other hotels too. I've never seen anything so insane in my life. I wanted to love it, but I don't think my bladder could take it again. LOL.... : 0 ) Vegas or anywhere where businesses allow you to use a bathroom or places that provide public restrooms are a much more attractive bet when it comes to travel. Why spend thousands to be told to "hold it" for hours on end if you want to explore?
