I think this might be the only Baton Rouge tourism video. Thank you for going off the beaten path in Louisiana tourism, very cool. The mounds site I don't think has barely any signage or information, I feel like it should have some panels or something saying at least what you guys said here. Also, there's a bus boycott mural I believe down by McKinley. I could see more videos including Southern/Scotlandville, Alton Sterling, Mid-city, Garden District, and the Lakes and Perkins overpass

This was fun! I know you'll never run out of things to talk about when it comes to a city as old and rich as New Orleans, but there's also a lot of charm in these more off the beaten path locations. I knew nothing about Baton Rouge until today. And your own personal stories, not to mention the vibe you have together as friends, adds a ton to the experience. Thanks for another great video! Well the stadium is known as Deaf Stadium and visiting teams can and have gotten rattled by the roars from LSU fans. Downtown Baton Rouge back in the 1970?s was my play ground, it was a lot different back then. The casino river boats can move and they use to have to sail at different times. They changed that regulation due to the traffic on the river and due to how high the river level would sometimes get. They decided for safety reasons to let the casino river boats stay docked and not have to sail anymore but they are still able to leave the dock and sail the river.

@@FreeToursbyFootHQ The impression I got honestly, was, if you want to go somewhere, and you can't go anywhere else, try Baton Rouge. It felt empty and passionless. I watched the Garden District tour months ago and it felt like you wanted people to visit there. Kinda waiting for the craziness to die out so I can. This didn't. It may just be me, but I am thankful that awareness of BR as a location is getting out there.
@FreeToursbyFootHQ3 жыл бұрын
@@jdpitt6 Hi Jeremy. I guess the off-hand remark at the start of the video wasn't the best choice of works. I don't think this video felt empty and passionless. I will say that though both Andrew and Robi have spent time living in BR, they are not experts in aspects of the city like they are in New Orleans. Also, this is more a road trip from New Orleans video and the idea of the video was to bring awareness of the city to our audience (which is mostly focused on NOLA).

Just outside of Tuscaloosa (Roll Tide!) is Moundville, we were told it was the site of the largest Native American "city" in North America. It's bizarre to me LSU Tiger Stadium has mounds too ... what's up with Native American mounds and our Southern football stadiums?

Cahokia in Illinois was the largest pre-Columbian city. The mounds were there first. Why would football stadiums build near them? Weird
@wdgbirmingham23 жыл бұрын
@@gnostic268 I 100% agree. It could be just a coincidence. But deep down I feel like these mounds were energy centers, be it through prayer, or a landing pad for advanced beings, or perhaps they are on energetic ley lines. Once when I visited the Arch in St. Louis I stood directly underneath it and meditated for a few minutes and I absolutely could feel the energy, it's hard to describe, like it raised my vibrational frequency as I stood under it. I think Cahokia is very close to St. Louis, I've never visited it but I'd love to climb those stairs and to just sit on the center of the mound and just soak up the sun and appreciate the view, I'll bet it would feel identical to how I felt under the Arch.
