I first saw Poncho Sanchez 1991 or something at La Ve Le in Studio City CA It was insane... I use that word ALOT but it truly was amazing. The groove was so strong the walls were practically pulsating. One of the best live music gigs I've ever seen. Have seen plenty of others since but I'll never forget that one... ever

Was Rueben Estrada on vibes that night? This particular show was promoting Poncho’s tribute to his mentor, Cal Tjader and it was truly phenomenal. But then he had his original band w/ players like Ramon Banda/ timbales, Arturo Velasquez/ trombone, Tony Banda/ bass, Sal Cracchiolo/ trumpet among others.
