I bunker down in Esperance to get out of the rain, then check out Lucky Bay apparently the best beach in the world. Then I continue west towards Albany to find a place to camp on the beach.

on the second and 3rd night of this trip as the sun was setting I just pulled over and camped on the side of the road and it was fine. When it is raining the ground is soaked and more rain falling it just not as fun, with the trip begin about having fun, there are times I'll pull the pin find a place (if close by) and start again the next day.

Glad you're enjoying the series, you do live in an amazing area. The Scram of Himalayan are great bikes to start with on the dirt, they have lower end torque which helps but they don't have massive power which can get people into trouble off road. The weight is now down and the balance of the bike is great, so really comfortable to stand which you do a lot off road.

I had exactly the same experience a couple of years ago on that exact same route into Albany. It actually gets fairly wet and cold in the south of WA in winter particularly around Albany to Margaret River.

@@freewayproject I’ve lived on the WA south coast for a long time. You can be lucky and get some great weather in June. But as you’ve seen, we get some pretty ordinary weather as well. With bike trips you don’t always get to go at the ideal time. If you’re still in WA you should be having some great weather up north. Lake Argyle is definitely worth a look if you are still on your way to the Kimberley . The Duncan Road from Halls Creek up towards Kununurra is worth doing. Having said that, there is just so much to see in WA, you can’t cram it all in on a relatively short trip. Safe travels. I look forward to each episode.

@@freewayproject Life just gets in the way at times. I think you would enjoy doing the Telegraph Track from Balladonia towards Norseman. In fact there are lots of good dirt rides in WA. If you have the time you could mooch around the southern third of WA in April/May, then head up north in June/July/August. As you are also a surfer you could check out the breaks up the west coast as well. I was in Kalbarri in the late eighties when a huge swell was hitting the place. There was an amazing reef break at (I think?) was Red Bluff. Very long, very clean, and very big. It was like watching something out of a Hawaiiansurf documentary.

Helmet are like girlfriends they come in all different shapes and sizes and everybody's head is different, I tried on heaps but this one fit my head well, doesn't move and not pressure points after riding in it all day. So if you found it a bit uncomfortable in the shop trying it on don't get it as it will just get worse riding all day in it. Sorry to hear you had an accident that does suck. Oh the fun of choosing a new bike, there is so much out there. And again depending on the type of riding you're doing that should dictate the type of bike, you just have to get past the manufacturers marketing and branding and match the bikes capability with what you want out of the bike.
