Freewing 64mm F-14 Maiden

What a great plane. I am very happy with this model. As you will see, I totally lost it at the last second and stalled the plane on final just before touchdown ,,,, that's all on me, nothing to do with the model. Lesson learned, fly the model all the way down to the deck with power, don't try to glide it in.

Looks like the little Tomcat took the hard landing well. Very resilient! She sounds great in the air, like a much bigger jet🙂

All experienced RC Pilots have wing tip stalls when they fly RC F-14's. Thanks for sharing that experience. Very wide wings, very wide flat body....relatively small stabilizers...I think that is why F-14's are prone to wing stalls. The F-14 in real life was the birthplace of Flight Controllers. Actual F14's use automated control spoilers like a second set of ailerons to control the wing drop motion. The leading edge of the wings cambers forward and down. There was talk of implementing slotted flaps prior to production being shut down.

Yeah, a few people have mentioned that this is a navy plane, you fly it right down to the deck.

Even with full span flaps you have to land them a little faster than most other jets. I had a tip stall and saved it in my last video. It was the 80mm though.

Yikes! Yeah man, you've gotta fly these planes in, especially with full flaps and ordinance... Crazy to hear it at almost idle coming in. Just free insurance to land with power. Sounds like you know this too haha!

Maybe a dumb question but am wondering if it would be easy to land with wings swept with high-alpha attitude? The moving wing is awesome scale feature, but does it really allow the plane to be landed more slowly at this scale? Some jets good at high alpha can be less prone to stalling and will tend to just get into a high sink rate without the severity of a typical stall it seems. Not sure if this plane can do that sort of high alpha attitude, maybe since it's a bit weightier with all the mechanics it has the high alpha is not so great?

@AerialRCFun I've seen a video by Wesly from motion Rc do a touch n go with the wings swept in, so yeah it can be landed that way, though a little bit faster. And have seen seen a video from " two brothers rc" do a high alpha pass very slow within inches with wings swept back, in fact ge did one so low, that he actually dropped it on runway. So you can actually landed with wings swept back. I'm gonna try it when I get mine😆

Hey Allen I have heard there is some issues with the gyro and I got mine today and unboxing it and some ppl concerned me about the gyro. Im using a lemons 10 ch and wont activate the gyro and just use it like a basic receiver and with he gyro use it like a fms reflex and I wanted to know any issues with the gyro with your?

I'm using the Freewing built-in gyro and have had no issues. Give it a try.
