You go to all the trouble for rivets and weather and then leave the vertical stab servos black. I painted mine to match on my FW camo L39 and A4 Skyhawk. It looks so much better and it takes nothing to do. I changed my A4 to the Lady Jessie version and did the rivets. Used a center punch. Added vortex generators, added nose gear cover and painted the gear white like the full scale. Really made it pop like your A-10. Your A-10 looks beautiful.

I 3d printed the rivet making tools, and they worked perfectly. The secret is: do not get in a hurry. I did it one time, and I regretted it. Just go slowly. It is worth the time, and effort.

GREAT video. I hope people give this a try. It take the model to a whole new level. I have used a fine CA glue pipettes with good success. Have another Flightline Corsair on the way and i am looking forward to adding all the weathering and detail almost as i am looking forward to flying it.

Love your panel lines/rivets technique. I just picked a cheapo 2-way airbrush up from Amazon w/ compressor for $50.

Enjoy and good luck. The great thing about weathering is simply do what you like.

Yeah! We're probably related!! I use a soft pencil for rivet's because it adds the color.. A little: Treetop flyer: by Steven stills and a adult beverage.. And away we go!! 😜

I Like checking out everyone’s different weathering techniques, I like the airbrush and have done a few that way, and tried pencils for panel lines on my Flightline F4U and that looks subtle and nice, but I’m definitely giving your way a try next! 👍🏼

you can use a pencil, the graphite works well too also to make the powder in the rivets. Brush and pencil together give good results

That’s an awesome tip. My current Zero project is being done that way. Keep an eye out for it. Some other cool things to accent that even more

Are you coming down to Atlanta and maidening my 80mm? It has a steering gyro and a AR-637T receiver. (SAFE was a must for the 1st landing) Maybe... Damn this thing is big!

@@JustPlaneCrazy I thought you could use some 60 degree, fly in shorts and a t shirt weather. I get it, probably wouldn’t go over well with Mrs Crazy...

I wouldn’t be opposed to it one day. Need to plan it
@jeffhenderson9343 жыл бұрын
Okay, the 80mm a-10 showed up yesterday. I’m following your lead on the rivers and the acrylic weathering. Unlike the other 40 or so builds I’m not going with my usual “OCD/ADD/ADHD” and try to knock everything out in under an hour/in record time. Since it’s still in the box, should I do the rivets and then the weathering followed by the decals while it’s in pieces? I’m gonna have to get a bigger truck or buy a cargo trailer to get this EDF to the field and back.

Put it together, decal it. Then rivet and weather

I think they'd call that technique for bringing out the panel lines a pin wash.For my 2c its much nicer effect than you can achieve with an airbrush.

Great work! I've been getting int refinishing lately, but have a hard time finding decals/ graphics other than Callie (which I LOVE, but pricey) do you have any resources for buying decals you can share? Much thanks if you can! -:)
@JustPlaneCrazy4 жыл бұрын
Tom, thanks for watching. I typically use Calli. Kirbys custom printing also does some and there are a few others out there. I found Calli to be worth the cost and the least hassle.

Micro sol micro set it for water slide decals it makes them snuggle down and look like they were painted on and it will wrinkle at first but then it settls down used it all the time on scale plastic airplanes

It’s up to you. I think doing detail work of any kind separates your model from the norm. Which is always a plus

You're the second person in this hobby to say they never used water transfer decals before. Didn't you ever build any plastic model kits as a kid? That's all there are on those.
@JustPlaneCrazy3 жыл бұрын
Growing up with a single mother who worked three jobs to put food in the table I honestly didn’t have much in the way of extras. Working with these planes in the hobby was def my first experiences with transfers over decals.

1 get decal paper print water slides 2 why weather I stood next to these in the USAF daily and the lines look like they do on this plane out of the box. 3 when planes weather from washing dirty panel lines they get painted for corrosion prevention. 4 your mommy says you're an expert your not.

Well I just bought “acrylic paint” from Walmart as well as thinner. I mixed it together and all it did was clump up and didn’t thin at all. What happened????
@JustPlaneCrazy2 жыл бұрын
Acrylic paint needs acrylic thinner and a lot of it. Latex can use water and it’s about 50/50. Trial an error
