It's a blast to fly, just make sure you put your 6S lipo all the way back, the cg in the manual is wrong.

I agree with you that the Freewing Saber is a fantastic EDF. MoPower, thats awesome:)

That is a sweet sounding jet! You always have the coolest EDF's What is the set up?
@chebertjr9 жыл бұрын
The power setup is a 80mm JETFAN with a HET 700-60-1865 motor from Gary at effluxRC.

RC REVIEWER the HET-1865 motor is a hot setup on 8s, what ESC are you using? Great job!

A friend has this F86 with 6S factory setup that he is hesitant to maiden at our field . We have a short( < 200ft) geotec runway. We have a close tree line perpendicular to the runway at one end maybe 200ft from the start of the geotec. There are some scattered trees at the other end. Neither end allows for much runoff if you go long. I assume you have some flight time on the stock F86 before doing the modes. How much runway did you need to get this thing in the air with the stock setup on grass? Also, how much runway did you need to get it to stop on an average good landing?
@chebertjr8 жыл бұрын
If the grass is short 200' will work with a head wind and half down flaps, landing doesn't take much runway at all.
@chebertjr8 жыл бұрын
To be safe hold the tail while gives full throttle then let it go, that will give instant max power, but this should not have to be done, my 6S version only took about 100' to get up.
@chebertjr8 жыл бұрын
One other thing with my 8S setup I can get it off the ground in 50' I just like to make a long taxi before taking off.
@greenrectanglerc21468 жыл бұрын
+RC REVIEWER Thanks for the tips. Really not as concerned getting it up as down. Its a tough demanding approach landing against the prevailing wind direction. We do a 180 turn inside 300 X 200 ft 3 sided box, wrapped by trees on three sides. Thats ok for most planes we fly 200ft is plenty to get them stopped (most times). Most videos I've seem of the F86 show hit taking a while to slow on geotec or asphalt. Maybe they are trying for a scale looking landing. So theres the biggest issue. Your modded F86 seems to slow down pretty quick but I'm sure the grass help with that.

Man. You have that Sabre hauling the mail. lol

So you like that ha, I love MoPower, this jet and my Stinger 90 are my favorite fast jets to fly, I also really like my ME 262, it doesn't do 171mph like the other 2 mentioned but with the setup I have in it, It tops out at 109mph which respectable. Giving me a like it thumbs up would be welcomed.

damn that thing gets away quick. next months plane. I'm getting the 262 tomorrow. so the next one on my list is the sabre. I have the 64mm and your right about it being a fun one to fly. it has a great flight model and characteristics. fun fun fun. super maneuverable. I think I'm going to do the 8s set up as well. What did you do to your 262 for upgrades???
@richardchambless11999 жыл бұрын
The HET 700-1865 is a 39mm motor. Is your fan unit the stock 80mm ? If so, does the motor fit ok?
@chebertjr9 жыл бұрын
Hi, No that it not the stock edf housing and rotor, if you would put that motor in it if it even fits it would burn up the motor, the stock edf unit has to many blades for such a high powered motor, my motor is installed in a 80mm Fanjet V2 edf unit, Gary at effluxrc is where I get my height powered edf units from.

+RC REVIEWER You are teaching me something here! I thought more "fans" in a fan unit means more thrust, if you had a motor that can push them hard and fast enough! Man-o-man, how wrong I was!

club needs to spend the money and put in a asphalt runway
@chebertjr9 жыл бұрын
I wish, but it would cost a small fortune.
@honestlyforreal63047 жыл бұрын
Was it just a mater of using an 8 cell battery that made it so fast, or did you need to change the speed control as well?
@chebertjr7 жыл бұрын
honestly for real I changed the esc and edf unit for an 8S lipo.
@honestlyforreal63047 жыл бұрын
I see. Thank you!
@rongraham12368 жыл бұрын
Also which retracts could you upgrade too..
@chebertjr8 жыл бұрын
None, that's the biggest problem with this jet, is the main Servoless retracts are to light duty and you can't find stronger ones that will fit, without extreme mods.
@Makindealz9 жыл бұрын
I love my saber but it won't take off from low grass.tried half flaps. Any suggestion
@chebertjr9 жыл бұрын
Hi Brad, That's strange, the only couple things I can think of is make sure you calibrate your throttle high and low end points, and make sure the grass is cut really short.
@derjoh19868 жыл бұрын
How many fan blades does the original Sabre has?
@chebertjr8 жыл бұрын
I believe 6 if my memory serves me right. If you want an high powered 8S edf this is the one you want, that's what i have in mine. I paid $300.00 for mine. www.ebay.com/itm/Ejets-JETFAN-V2-80mm-EDF-Unit-HET-700-60-1865-Motor-For-8S-UpTo-5kg-Thrust-/301779954822?ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

@chebertjr8 жыл бұрын
The only drawback on the saber is the main retracts, there to light duty for this size plane.
@derjoh19868 жыл бұрын
As far as the retract mounting or the whole retracts themselves that giving you problems?
@chebertjr8 жыл бұрын
+derjoh1986 The actual Servoless retracts.
@chebertjr8 жыл бұрын
+derjoh1986 They just strip out easily, even on a good landing.

I would like to know if a 90mm edf unit would fit in this plane?
@chebertjr8 жыл бұрын
No, it would take a lot of mods.
@chebertjr8 жыл бұрын
You would have to take out so much foam it would seriously weaken the airframe, it's already thin foam in the area of the edf unit.
@Slassh69x8 жыл бұрын
Yes and it doesn't require that much work. Maybe 3 hours total time. But... going with a 12b 90mm fan the exhaust tube would have to be completely hogged out so if you do go 90mm you want to use the 6b setup from the V1 Eurofighter. It's worth the time to put one in over the stock outrunner. less amps for more thrust.
