Are you looking for your first EDF jet or are you a more advanced pilot looking for a new EDF? Look no further. While great for people new to EDF jets, The Freewing F9F Panther is fast and agile enough for experienced pilots too. The Freewing F9F is one of our favorite jets. While this F9F Panther EDF is not for beginner flyers, it is perfect for the intermediate flyer looking for their first EDF jet. There is not an easier EDF jet to fly.
Unlike many EDF jets, the Freewing F9F actually floats for an extended period of time without throttle (assuming a correct CG). The F9F is powerful enough to loop and has a fantastic roll rate. We recommend hand launching and belly landing in the grass for pilots new to EDF jets. The F9F is built from durable EPO foam and uses nylon hinges. While a 1600 mAh LiPo is recommended, a 2200 mAh battery can be used by more experienced pilots with minor modification to the battery compartment. We highly recommend a high wing trainer for beginners and proficiency with at least one low wing plane before attempting to fly an EDF jet.

This is definitely my best flying 64mm EDF jet. It takes off of a small parking lot and lands just fine anywhere flat, turns easy and has plenty of power on a 3S 1800.

Greetings to the Petrincic Bros from Michigan in the USA. I also really love the little Freewing F9F Panther. For the correct CG I measure 32mm back from the front of the wing itself, not where the air inlets are. And I cutout the center of the wooden tray and mounted velcro in the bottom of the fuselage, putting a 2200mah 3s battery in on it's edge. This provided a lot more room for the battery. Happy flying!

Hand toss works like a charm, full throttle and it went straight and a little bit up in the air. Its much easier to throw then the hobbyking flycat. I have a nanotech 3s 1800mah all in the front on my panther

Salute from Canada new subscriber here..long time flyer..I picked this plane up when Hobby Lobby was selling it..it is notoriously nose heavy..battery must be as far forward as you can get it..and once you obtain the correct G Spot it is a joy to fly..have over 100 flights on mine and hand toss it everytime and not just in the shower..love the channel you guys make me laugh..oh yes I fly every day and have been for 15 years..there is no better hobby than RC..thanks for the video.

Hey pilot Robert, you should try this battery all the way forward. As far as it will go. So much better for CG. The book CG is not very good. I love this jet. I have over 100 flights on mine. Guys, its NOT nose heavy. Pilot Robert just pulled up to quick on takeoff. Fortunately the "thrust to weight ratio" was on the side of thrust to keep the aircraft moving up and preventing a stall. The landing demonstrated a slight nose high "Alpha"...which is exactly what you want! Forgive me for this last comment, but... Its not a prop plane...its a jet!

My F9F specifies a 1300mah 3cell. I found that once I removed the wheels it flew much better and felt more balanced. My one battery fits from the bottom. Canopy is fixed. Stunning looking plane. Regards from.South Africa.

Congratulations Robert on a successful nose light flight! I once had a Parkzone Spitfire that was so nose light it would go straight up into a loop from the hand toss! I had to fly with constant down elevator to make it work but like that it flew beautifully!

I upgraded mine with a Freewing 64mm 12 blade fan, 3300kv motor, and a 45 amp ESC running on a 4cell 2200mah battery. It flies and sounds AWESOME ! CG’s great with the 2200 4 cell. I left the main gear and nose gear servo off. Cut the battery tray down so the battery would fit all the way forward. ESC was placed in front of the fan adjacent to the inlets for CG and cooling. I hand toss it of course ! It has so much thrust it just flies out of your hand. When you pull into the vertical you can zoom the shit out of it ! Cheers ! 🍻

Hi, Petrincic brothers. Bouncy bouncy is better than crashy crashy! I hope you can make the camera focus at high magnification. With the faster jets, it is so difficult to see them when they zoom up. With the light nose, you have to keep the speed up as long as possible. But the landing was fun to watch. Thanks for sharing! Stay healthy!

Yesss you really have some great flying skills Robert. These small planes go around like crazy and before you know it, the orientation is lost. But even with this much nose light plane you made it look graceful in the air and did the landing on the carpet. With the right g-spot this should be a very satisfying hand tosser.

When you showed position of battery, I knew what will happen. 😜 This plane amazingly fies best, if it is almost ridiculously nose heavy! But congrats: You did very well with that "nose light" plane, Robert. And you are right: Especially this baby ist not the most easy one for hand tossing. Needs some force but is not easy to grab. Not the best combination for hand toss.

...Yeah,..good show,...A really sexy plane ,..I'm glad you guys enjoy it,..it was a one of a kind in its day,....My Uncle Dave Thurston Designed alot of it,..Manufactured and Redesigned it into the Cougar,..Then the Tiger,..as you might guess we're all a bunch of cat lovers,..Mom worked on the Hellcats too,..I did some work on the E2-C hawkeye,...My Sis Carol did the cameras on the lunar lander,..brother does the spacesuits at ilc Dover,...Yup,..Nobody bigger at grumman then Dave outside of ol leroy grumman himself back in those days,.He supervised 1500 techs ,..engineers,.. and employees,....He left after a few years and started a Little Seaplane company Called Thurston Aviation..and made little seaplanes for the rest of his life,..alot of them are still loved and flying today in 2022,..i thought about buying the company back and starting it again,..But the aviation markets changed alot,..and the numbers don't add to well,..glad you enjoy the toys,...god speed and peace in the world ...Bill Thurston

Flew one of those for a long time. The battery needs to go all of the way up front. The CG in the manual does not work. Flies great once the CG is moved forward. Great video. Thanks.
