What micro gas turbine did you use in this model? Would you recommending switching to gas turbines i this model because it’s damn cool to to the ears!

This was converted using a JetCat P-20SX. It is not the easiest of the Freewing jets to convert to gas turbine jet. Mostly because it is difficult to get the CG right. Adding the VT kit into the mix is also a challenge, though not an impossible one. That being said, it does fly quite well with a JetCat P-20SX all the way up to Xicoy X-45. I would go for a X-45 if I were to redo this conversion. Cheers!

Thank you😁 Recording a video like this takes at least one day. Editing takes another day or two (sometimes even three days). The process is a bit complex. I have to cut away useless footage, stabilize and manually clean up stabilization artifacts (which takes a lot of time), cut away even more footage (because less is more), compose the clips in an orderly fashion, do color grading and audio leveling and alignment plus more. It's a lot of work for one person, but I think it's worth it. Keep in mind that this is just a hobby project for me, and that I have a full day time job as a software engineer next to this. I try to make one video every week during summer, and at least one video every month during winter (not much flying at the top of the northern hemisphere during the dark hours). Thanks for asking😀

It would be a bit better tbh. The p20 is a bit under powered. I would personally go for the Xicoy X45 or X66 if I were to build it again today.

How did you hookup the original thrust vectoring system to work with your turbine without melting the whole back half? I have a Gripen and I'm putting an Xicoy x45 in it and want to keep the thrust vectoring.

Hi, sorry I did not see this until now. I did not construct this (all credits go to Jan M. Berg). But to answer short, there is a separate thrust tube with a larger diameter inside the rear nozzle that is slightly overlapping the internal thrust tube. Berg to get a hold of those. There is also a layer of aluminium tape directly on the foam on the rear piece.

Avanti flyr veldig bra! Denne Gripen flyr også greit, men den er ganske nose heavy rett ut av boksen. Vi er cirka 70 medlemmer i klubben, og cirka 10-20 medlemmer flyr aktivt på denne flystripa gjennom sommeren. 😊
