The most impressive part is that temp saw that the lechonk wasnt going to be able to use its gimmick, but held on to it for over 70 turns, knowing that its singular turn on the field would be to shut down annihilape. He was a mon down from the start but only on the offensive side. Takes a lot of resolve to not sack the pig for a switch advantage but instead hold it for that one specific play. Props.

@NotSpecialDude Жыл бұрын
The best part was that is that lechonk, at that moment, was 100% the best move. Even if he did rage fist and lechonk stayed alive, there was no winning move against it. Salt cure meant that sub was pointless, and switching would have been devastating as lechonk would have been spamming endeavor that would put the rest of the team within killing range.
@CatherinetheMewsthebestMTB Жыл бұрын
I don't really think he planned THAT far ahead (like 70 turns) to try and sack it vs ape. Especially since switch initiative isn't that game breaking for a stall team anyways. But it definitely takes experience to know not to give up any sacks without any reason. You never know when a sack can be useful, and it ended up being very useful for sure. It was definitely super well played to recognize how to get to his wincon (beat annihilape) by maintaining hazards on the field to chip it down+press the moves needed to prevent it from getting any free switches in [one example of this is when tempt6 clicked brave bird on the annihilape switch in when they expected a u-turn and wanted to get a rage fist stack up]. Can't ever give your opponent an inch to work with, especially if you can recognize when and where they can win

@@puri-makes-stuff-sometimes missed the point: the Lechonk is to block the Annihilape from coming in and setting up, as the opponent NEEDS to keep it alive to prevent the Lechonk from using Endeavour. If Annihilape dies, it’s game over, as shown quite clearly when the Annihilape does go down. I’ve seen the chess comparison to High Level singles play, and I have to agree with it: One Good Play can win you the match, but you want to avoid the opponent making that play by removing the opportunities to do so. It’s also something that can happen in Doubles: I once used a Zoroark disguised as Eelectross to Trick a Scarf onto a Garchomp, effectively disabling its ability to kill Eelectross thanks solely to their Gengar’s Cursed Body. It’s because Endeavour is Normal Type that the Annihilape isn’t fine with it: it wants to set up and sweep, but now has to play a more defensive role to prevent Lechonk from effectively doing an OHKO to whatever it wants. As shown in the game, it was the Lechonk that shut down Annihilape.
@puri-makes-stuff-sometimes2 жыл бұрын
@@FrostGlader But that literally isn't true; Lechonk had to deal with hazards for a good 90% of the game, and the fact that it's presence REQUIRED a sash to be threatening meant all you needed to do to neutralize it is keep them up, which is exactly what happened. It just so happened that it blocked Drain Punch in endgame, but that was never the intended use for it. It was a nice side thing, sure, but it didn't stop Ape from threatening everything; in fact, if Lechonk tried Endeavor at any point, Ape would've won the game by switching in on it. Maneuvering around Ape was the reason it didn't win immediately; the pig had nothing to do with it.

The stages games are definitely at least mostly true. I've never run into people who talk like the people in his/her videos, and s/he runs into them regularly enough to make consistent videos.

@@Aquilenne I've run into loons online before, so to see him having it happen wasn't really a stretch to believe. Though to be fair with the consistency of his encounters, it was either fake or he played a LOT. I liked to think the latter, but the prior makes more sense

It really shows that Temp is an adaptable player. Even though the original plan failed, he saw what Annihilape was doing with drain punch and then fucking went for it
@Darthescar982 жыл бұрын
Hot take: I think there was a legitimately good strat with Lechonk. Like just about anything, it's easy to stop if it's not used well. Temp clearly knows how to play around the counters, and can probably use it to quite consistent success. Something to also keep in mind is while it's easy to play around, it still has to be played around, so the Pokemon that stop it basically become essential. That is good for strategizing
@BearInThaWoods2 жыл бұрын
It goes to show how resourceful and cunning temp is to have his original play fall through but still manage to get the lv1 to work.

People who say temp's videos are all staged clearly either didn't watch this video or have no idea what low level ladder is like.

This actually shows that there are top players who meme a lot, and also might be many who are strong players but don't actually care about the metagame's competitiveness and health... on the other hand, we could also interpret it as OU council members being not as strong as people think they are... getting rekt by a youtube memer xD

Never considered tempt6t to be a bad player. He just makes content with meme teams and edits in noises that go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. On rare occasion when he busts out a less gimmicky team, he crushes, and that's not to mention the depth of knowledge he has which allows him to come up with gimmicks in the first place.
