Skill issue. The game makes it very clear that mints don't actually change the nature. If you look in game their nature never actually changes when you use the mint. It only effects the stats.

Of course its enough damage. It gets literally 4 boosts from Hadron Engine, electric terrain, same type terrastalize, and choice specs. And these require Zero turns to set up. It's not cool. Take terra away from this thing and nerf the Hadron engine free boost that it gives on top of the boost from electric terrain that it already gets (for free because it gets to set up the terrain for free which is already an amazing ability without the extra boost). It's like they don't give a shit that they made and win-more button. Make it an actual balanced game.

saying they balance vgc and dont care about singles isnt really right imo. They dont really balance either format that much. They just introduce different pokemons, moves, items and mechanic with each generation into the game and the players have to come up with what to use. Its not like in a fighting game where they have to make sure that every character is viable. But when designing they keep competetive in mind, not only vgc. Heavy duty boots is probably an addition they made to combat the dominance of hazards in singles and make pokemon with weakness to stealth rocks viable/not be completely coutnered by them. They also removed pursuit which is isnt a used move in vgc but very strong in singles. Its just like you said its easier to handle problems when you have 2 mons while in singles if one pokemon like fluttermane is too strong to be handled by one mon its just going to sweep your whole team.

Minccino gets skill link+ technician+ stab tail slap. Pretty good coverage too, in triple axel, bullet seed, and rock blast. Also gets a pretty solid move pool apart from that too. Kleavor gets sharpness+ sheer force +stab on stone edge. Stone edge being a hundred base power, coming off of a 135 attack stat. Pelipper gets drizzle+ rain dish, and A. Ninetails gets snow cloak+ snow warning.

Imagine durant. Loafs around one turn then misses the next attack because hustle so that you've now waisted 2 tunes for the price of one.

Tbf, the gyarados example isn't really the best, cause the abilities kinda conflict if you think about it. Moxie is something you want to stay in for a long time with, but intim is something you want to switch a lot with. I guess it could just make gyarados versatile, being able to fill multiple roles with just one slot

Another reason why oms ban things is for fun. It's not fun to always win battles by slapping a pokemon on your team snd same for the victims.
