Freezing in a Cold Van

Living in a van is not always fun and games, sometimes you have to wake up in freezing temperatures and deal with frigid conditions.

Thanks for the realistic information. Van life sounds great if you are in a moderate climate with decent weather and/or if you have a complete, well insulated buildout which includes heat and air conditioning. Van life comes with tremendous freedom and the adventure of hitting the road but it also comes with tremendous inconveniences even if you spend the big bucks to get well equipped vehicle. It seems to come with both extreme ends of the scale; you have to be able to endure but there is a great payoff.

yup !!!! i read all those "helpful tips" about how to stay warm in a van , and u can tell which writers are young people. They're the ones saying "oh just do this & you'll be warm all night". uh - huh.... no acknowledgement for the poor souls who have to get up and tinkle 2-5 times during the night. i want the space to be warm !!!!! the native americans could warm their wigwams and tipis. There has to be a way to warm my van !

Last night in the Olympic mountains I had to get up twice, but I got 6 hours of sleep still. I have a heated pad on my bed that makes hoping back into bed fun.
