Hey guys. Checking back in after a couple of years. There is now a potential cure for FIP it seems. It is a drug called GS441. It seems to not be easy to get your hands on however. two days ago our baby cat left this world in my arms, my boyfriend did not had the opportunity to say goodbye, if not a quick look before going to work, at times I do not feel I can survive this pain .. when you talk abt the deep relationship you built even if there were “just” some months we can understand you...it is the third time that I listen to your story, in some way it’s helping a lot.. your faces and your tears could be ours .. I feel so guilty on top of my grief. My Oscar was 2 years old, I had raised him since kittenhood. I put him down the day he received his FIP diagnosis because the vet said there were no cures and it was 100% fatal. He already had fluid in his abdomen and wouldn’t eat. I only found out after I put him down that underground treatments for FIP existed. I feel like a terrible mom , I put my baby down without even researching it. My baby is dead because of me and I feel so guilty. I feel like there was something I could’ve done, he was so young, I feel like I didn’t have enough time with him and I miss him so much every day. I can barely even think about him without bursting out crying.

I understand their feelings so well. What's so fucked up about this disease is how it just comes out of nowhere until you already formed a bond right and just takes it way. My yellow 6m old cat willy back in December was fine one week and the next one was gone. I cried so much.

My cat was 1 year and 3 months old. he was so precious and had just died due to being diagnosed with FIP. I am devastated😭 he stopped eating and gave up hope completely and stopped trying to fight the water in his body, until it filled up to his lungs and killed him. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how to stop feeling the way I feel right now. he went to his favorite spot when he died, it was a staircase that had a window next to it, he was staring at the window and I didn’t think much of it. I went to my bedroom then again went to check on him. I saw him laying down (still alive) taking a very deep last breath and that’s when I knew. I’m 15 so I couldn’t handle it. I just ran straight to my room cause I just knew it was his last and sobbed and I am still sobbing till this moment. it’s been about 9-10 hours. Idk what to do😭🥺🥺

But all I know right now is that they are in heaven watching over us, living the better life. My kitten is sleeping right now and it can barely stand up. I just pray and hope everything will be okay. Muaz Islam at least they are at peace now and aren’t suffering💞 the thing is my vet never told me it was incurable and that my cat was suffering. I would’ve put him down cause he was just so weak and skinny for FIP, he couldn’t even try to fight it. anyways, it gets better, now when I see pictures of him I smile. cause I remember how amazing he was and how he would always keep me at peace. our little angels are probably playing with each other up there❤️

I'm so sorry for your loss!😢 I experienced the same sadness of my very 1st cat I owned who was a beautiful black cat about 1 to 2 years old. He had contracted FIP about 8 months into my ownership of him after adoption from a shelter. At the short time before the virus took hold of him he was an energetic and playful cat. There wasn't any treatment for FIP when I took him the same painful way that your precious one went through. I was broken hearted and thought I did something wrong but found out the hard way that some cats or kittens can get this terrible and devastating disease. 😢😢😢😢

I also thought I was doing something wrong and couldn’t understand, but it’s a deadly disease that I hope a cure has been found for. There was no cure when my little one passed which devastated me and I wish I knew earlier so that I could put him out of his misery. He suffered a lot and I can’t forget the pain he went through. thank you so much. I just got my little Panini after Thanksgiving and today she was soooo lethargic. I had to rush her to the vet for her to be put down because of FIP. We’ve just lost our kitty to FIP - it is the most cruel disease and it’s awful how quickly it progressed. I had never heard of it until two weeks ago - I can totally relate to feeling so completely consumed by this disease. FIP is treatable for those that know where to go. I think the algorithm recommended this vid because I have a cat with wet FIP currently. I've been treating her for 2.5 weeks and for all intents and purposes she is back to normal.

She's not "cured" yet. We're only on day 25 of a 12 week treatment but she's back to acting normal at this point. On FB look for a group called FIP Warriors 5.0- they will help. There's some fake FIP groups out there so be careful.

There is currently no medical treatment for FIP that I'm aware of. If your cat has the noneffusive form of the disease, it's possible that antibiotic treatment can support the immune system and extend your cat's life, but it has dangerous side effects and it's not a cure. There is an experimental antiviral drug that's being researched for use in FIP treatment, but it's not approved for use in the US and many other countries at this time.

My kitty goes into observation period in 2 days after being successfully treated for 12 weeks. Just because it's experimental doesn't mean it doesn't work. Experimental treatments and medications are used for humans all the time. Because pet owners are told there is no treatment they euthanize their cats unnecessarily and some only find out after the fact that they could have done more. Success is not 100% but it's high enough to save a lot of lives

I’m sorry but this is completely untrue. My sweet boy had dry FIP, his FIP affected his CNS. It was killing him on the inside. Realistically even cats with treatment can die. Don’t promise fake hope

Our first ever kitten, Ollie, had wet FIP. We’ve never had a cat before because we always thought that they weren’t the cuddliest but Ollie proved us so wrong. It was hard not to love the little guy. He would follow me everywhere and would only nap next to me. He would talk to me nonstop. The thing that bothers me the most is that his last week before we put him to sleep, he was at the hospital surrounded by strangers. I just hope that he never thought that we abandoned him. Even though we were there in his final moments, it terrifies me to think that he wasn’t aware of how much he was loved. I hope everyone who had to deal with losing a kitten finds the peace that they need ❤️

Oh god i so much resonate with your message, lost my angel to fip yesterday and the thing that bothers me the most is the exact same you describe. I was in such a dilemma for leaving her in the vet clinic instead of taking her home and keeping her in my arms until her last moment, but she needed oxygen thats why it was a hard choice. I'm sorry for your loss. I just lost my cat Taiger (Tiger) this past wednesday. she had pain in her body and had a hard time walking had to put her to sleep at the Vet. She was my pride & joy for 8 years, adopted her off the streets as a stray cat in (2012). Sorry to hear about your cat, it is incredibly sad, thank you for sharing. Our cat is only 6 months old and have had her since the turn of the new year. She was diagnosed with Dry FIP last Saturday. We managed to get her on the GS drug and has improved in all concerning areas of blood work. But she just can’t poop or hold her urine as she lost control of her back legs. My Gece also had dry FIP and we had to put her to sleep 2 months ago. She had worsening encephalitis, just like Halo. She became incontinent, had severe nytagmus and ataxia, was falling over constantly. She didn't have grand mal seizures but she had shivering episodes which were probably petit mals. Just like Halo, she stopped being herself - she was very withdrawn and wasn't sleeping at all - just staring into space for 4 days straight. I feel your pain so much. To make things worse, because of Covid precautions, we couldn't visit her and the vet hospital was very slow to respond to calls or to give us honest answers. She was in ICU for 3 nights, came back emaciated, and she was a different cat. I so much appreciate that you made this video.

9 months later... I want to update my response. I was very, VERY angry at the lack of information from cat experts, even our own vets, about what was going on with Gece. It was all very hush-hush - our ICU vet was very vague about how to actually get help, knowing that Gece was actively dying and needed help immediately. I was grasping at anything to get help immediately, and NO HELP was to be found. This was height of Covid and all I could do was try to find help online. NOTHING. NOTHING. I lashed out at Jackson G, Vancouver Vet and it wasn't fair because JG is a behaviorist and VV is just... ? - they might have helped a bit by pointing me in the right direction, maybe - but wasn't their job or anything that affected themselves. That's fine. However, JG's colleague #KittenLady (Hannah, a kitten expert) has actually experienced the horrific pain of nearly losing a baby herself to FIP, and has written extensively about her experience these few months with her kitty Coco on FB. It is a serious, frightening disease - but I am witness to a friend's young cat being saved by this treatment, and I know it is a real thing. #FIPWarriors.com XOXO

We lost our kitten to FIP about a year ago. It started with him sleeping for days on end, then he would do anything he could to lick the stones on the terrace. Later he had trouble finding his balance, and in the end he was completely paralyzed. He didn't have seizures like yours, but he had brain damage nonetheless. He wouldn't eat or drink and lost close to all his muscle tissue. We had the same ups and downs in our story, thinking he was going to live, he was going to be alright. We took him with us to the beach, and he walked next to us on the shore. It was beautiful. We decided to put him down when he no longer purred, no longer acknowledged our existence at all. Before that, he would stop at nothing to show how happy he was, even if it cost him all his energy. He was just too tired and in too much pain to feel happiness. The vet came to our home, she let me hold him as she did it. It soothes me to think that the last thing he ever felt was to be in my warm arms, being pet and kissed by our family. We miss him terribly.

My 17 week old kitten was just diagnosed with wet fip today . We had taken him to the vet a little over a week ago and he had a bit of a fever and wasn't being his normal playful self . They gave him an antibiotic shot , a fever reducer and the vet said his belly felt wormy so she gave him a topical dewormer . We noticed his belly getting bigger so I thought the dewormer wasn't working . Come to find out , that wormy feeling was actually fluid building up . We are having him put to sleep on Tuesday. Today is friday , we wanted one more weekend of snuggles . It is one of the most heart destroying things I've been through . I know this video was posted 3 years ago but I just want to say , I'm so sorry for your loss and for anyone else who has suffered the same loss ❤

We lost our 17 year old Manx to cancer a couple of months ago. We wanted another Manx because we like their dog like personalities and we found out the local no-kill shelter had two Manx brother kittens. We adopted them and everything went well for a few days then out of nowhere one of them got a high fever and sickly and yes the lab and test results showed he had severe FIP. We did everything possible to save him and had an excellent vet that was very familiar with the disease and knew what to do. We had never heard of this terrible disease. We had to put him down today at only 3 months old. I know we did the right thing because no matter what we did with the vet's care it just got worse. Fortunately his brother has no signs of it in his lab work and is doing fine as a normal hell raising kitten. The loss is very difficult as you all know all too well. We must remind ourselves that we gave these FIP cats all the love and care we possibly could. And, we received all their unconditional love. Sometimes I think the FIP cats personally picked us to help them get to the other side. So sorry and sad for all the little FIP angels that ended up with this terrible disease. The loss of these little angels does leave a huge empty spot in our hearts but hopefully we can find some comfort in knowing we did all we could for them.

Sorry for your lost 😔 He will be greatly missed. Last Thursday night I lost my Luna ( 6 months old ) because of FIP. Suddenly attacked, cannot move her back legs. 30 mins after 2nd seizure attacked, she’s gone. Really awful for us 😭. There’s no symptom, did a blood test 2 weeks ago, confirmed FIP. We couldn’t do anything. She was fine actually, playful. Virus has attacked her brain & nerve. I wish FIP vaccine is affordable and easy to get 🙏🏽. So we can take care our cats better. My kitten died 48 hours ago, he was killed by a dog behind our home. He would have been 6 months old this week so I had him for the same length of time as you and also had such a special bond. Same thing happened to my kitty just today, she was turning 6 months old in 3 days and we’ve only had her for a little bit over 2 months. She was so strong and so tough to fight out but she was too young to finish fighting. We prayed almost everyday and tried giving her a bunch of medicine. I probably cried about everyday. My kitty died in my moms arms while we were giving our last goodbyes since she already looked horrible and was barely breathing. I’m trying not to cry while typing. Thank god there is a cure now. Our cat was diagnosed about 4 months ago and rapidly deteriorated. After 12 weeks of treatment, she is great. There has been a known cure for years, but the patent is owned by GSK. GSK knows it has other applications and does not want to risk negative side effects being documented in animal tests to bring it to market. Luckily pharmaceutical MFRS in China reverse engineered it and are making it widely available, but still quite expensive at around $45USD/day X 90 days

Thank you for sharing your story. We just lost our precious baby 10/03/20 to FIP. I can't believe how identical our stories are except my girl was about 2½ years old when she developed FIP. It all happened so fast and has been completely devastating to our lives. I took her to the vet bc all she would do is sleep literally all day and night but was still getting up to eat but would go right back to her little cave I made for her. After more than 2 weeks she did not get well and her left eye had become so cloudy and changed color. Monday the vet prescribed eye meds the 2 days following she could barely walk. She lost all control of her hind legs and was hardly eating. I flipped my wig when I watched her try to crawl out of bed to go get water. Back to the vet immediately that Thursday and was told they believe she has FIP and would not make it over the weekend. I could not believe this was happening. My boyfriend left work and we spent every last minute that we could with her. I remember crying bc the thought of not being able to play with her ever again. I tried anyway and when I pulled out her favorite wand toy she tried going after it! She could only bat at it since her hind legs no longer worked. Just like you said your boy showed his personality, I got a glimpse of "my little athlete"..then those God awful seizures began. She would jump out of her bed and do circles around the chair I made her bed and her tongue would be hanging out her mouth when it was over. When the seizures became more frequent we knew it was time to free her of her sick little body and at 4 a.m. we Uber'd it to the emergency vet. My cute little baby, we had the staff balling with us. l still cry when I think of her but I also smile bc she had such a beautiful spirit. If I had the funds I would have paid for that drug but we were told it was still experimental and not easily obtainable. So unexpected, I expected/planned on having her for many more years. Thank you for sharing your story! I tried to keep it short, I found some comfort in being able to relate seeing how similar our FIP experiences played out.

Oh guys. We lost our 12 week-old shelter kitten to FIP the week before last, we only had her 11 days but we bonded hard and she was totally perfect (also black and white). She had the wet version, which slowly filled her lungs with fluid, literally one morning she woke up and couldn’t breathe, we got her to the vets and she was euthanised within two hours. We are waiting six weeks for the virus to die in our home and will try again with a kitten or cat that hopefully has a better health background. I am SO so sorry this happened to your lovely boy, your grief will be as deep as your love was. I am so sorry for the lost of your baby. I lost mine 2 weeks ago due to FIP I went took him to the vet because he did not wanted to eat and look sick I though it was an intestinal.obstruction or something fixable. He was Dx with FIP ,,the vet said no cure, and that he was deteriorating and he was gonna get worse.. vet gave him some steroids to keep him comfortable so I can spend few days with him Before I put him to sleep, when I got home he made it to the litter box,pee but did not covered, he started walking weird, started to salivate, his pupils went huge, he lost control of his bowel movement . I rushed him to the hospital and vet told me my baby was dying. It was traumatic ,painful 😢 💔..I miss him so much. Vet told me I need to notify the breeder since genetic predisposition is high in pure breed cats. I was mad at the whole world now I am very sad but accepting things and I wish I can help in someway to STOP this evil diseases from taking the lives of our babies. katherine saucedo wow your vet said that? That’s funny because my cat was a pure breed American bobtail that I got from a shelter. When I first got her she was coughing and sneezing a lot and I thought it was because she went from a shelter to a home and sometimes that can make them sick. Someone informed on a pet forum that sometimes no kill shelters will pawn off sick animals to people, I always wondered if that was the case with me.
