Understanding of Green Board & related application specs, the practice of ESD (CMOS), solder content 60/40 Rosin Core, and the interaction of human touch such elements of salt and oil will contaminate solder joints. I worked for over ten yrs. as a Lead Electronic Eng at the MIL-SPEC DOD level for solder certification. Solder wicking appears to be controlled by the Seamark. Great content for those of us strapped to dealer service & related costs, so thank you for sharing. Cleaning of the board to remove Rosin, which will produce acid corrosion. I used trichlor before the conformal coating stage. Continued Success! Hope this helps!

I finished up with school a couple of weeks ago and one thing that we were taught is if the truck is equipped with air bags was to release the air to lower the 5th wheel plate while coupling. Back up just enough to get the kingpin into the slot before the jaws then add air to bags to raise then back up to couple. This will keep more grease between apron and surface of the 5th wheel. I guess it would work with a spring truck just need to lift and lower the trailer if applicable. Just one of the many things I learned in school. Great video!
@cantmakethisstuffup2552 жыл бұрын
Try applying grease to the trailer skid plate rather than the fifth wheel. More grease will stay where it’s needed instead of being scraped off as when applied to fifth wheel.
@Mr_Clean2 жыл бұрын
..... And then you go to a company where every driver cranks the legs all the way down and you run over the top of the fifth wheel plate and the kingpin gets hung up on the front part of the fifth wheel have fun figuring that one out.
@andrewbrown82812 жыл бұрын
You can get a polymer fifth wheel plate. Prevents greasing the fifth wheel. I think. I aint no trucker tho
@arcticfox51182 жыл бұрын
It can but it depends on application and your 5th wheel model too. I cant use them on my plate, the design is just bad for it i think and they get shredded in a couple weeks and the jaws wont lock properly unless i really smash into them. but others swear by them and ive seen them work well.

Reballing BGA chips looks like a serious exercise in patience. I do PC repair on the side to Trucking and luckily in that world everything that needs fixing is Socketed. Well other than some SMT components but even those have seriously low pin counts and can be done by hand with a good assortment of iron tips and alligator clips.

Next level SMD repair there. Cost of a truck going down to a bad repair is too high, plus the long-term abuse & vibrations require an excellent repair. So I understand why all the expensive equipment is used here. Superb.

Really enjoyed that video. You really need some complex equipment to mess with modern-day electronics. It amazes me that that stuff even works when it's put back together.

Lead solder is the best. Anything the government doesn't like, is what actually works.

Nice video on the tuning shop and Detroit swapped t100. A color that would look nice especially on the new cabover W/ stainless refer, but is very difficult to get right is black cherry 🍒 especially the candy or pearl coat version. It looks black in the shade or low light, but pops out nicely in sunlight

Good video. 👍 I talked to Lawrence a while back ago when he was still learning to use his new machine. I’m sure he’s done well since then. Nice to see you put out proof of his work. 🤘

I wonder how many trucks are sitting idol due to chip issues that could be repaired in 24hrs. $10,000 vs $2,500. I bet he could do the boards on flat screens.

I know where a NICE dent side ford is with a twin charged 453 Detroit and a 13 speed in it. It’s been meticulously frame off restored. Sitting on a newer dodge 3500 chassis on 37s. It’s a single cab short bed ford f100 body.

Your buddie nailed it with the comment "Lead-free solder is what kills 'em. The joints crack." Too bad manufacturers are not given the ability to decide if they want to use some lead in their solder to make it more fatigue-crack resistant.

Great content. Should get this video out to Asian Mai/ Mutha Trucker channel, be a big help for the truckers on Lawrence's Freightliner Cascadia "chip" repair business. 😀
