When you guys install this awning, make sure you clean the buildup out of the bottom of the 1box or you will continue to get this code. Also, after replacing the v-bands, make sure to do a regen to heat the sealing agent on the band to the DPF filter. The material needs to heat so it melts into place and seals the filter from leaking.

The shop that did this to my truck out the old clamps back on but charged me for the new clamps. I didn’t realize until I opened up the one box to replace the DPF filters myself. Excel Truck Group of Charlotte, NC. Bunch of thieves.

If you have to install an awning, it’s because the computer is telling the doser to spray like hell, because your DOC isn’t doing it’s job and converting the NOX. That gives you the large buildup of def inside the box. Save your money and get a new onebox. I’ve been through all that headache and had to replace the onebox.
@bustedknucklebydieseldr32282 жыл бұрын
Awning is only for stopping the slobber of def when exhaust flows past it which in turn causes the low nox code. A onebox price compared to a awning install is about 9k off from each other. I think you may of had a string of bad luck with yours. Or maybe to many miles on your box. But I would never jump to selling a box as majority of the time not needed. It’s all about having someone that knows how to read log files correctly.
@tbren93412 жыл бұрын
@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 the mechanics told me that very thing. I ended up wasting 9k replacing harnesses, nox sensors, the list is too long to put here. And ended up needing a onebox after all that expense. I even had the DOC cleaned with an ultrasound. Each mechanic would tell me a different story. It’s the clients choice I guess. I wish I would have replaced mine at the very beginning. You can’t win, even after replacing everything, I’m still in the shop for ACM, then ECM, hunting it down with the parts shortage. The best thing to do is drive the mfer off a cliff.

With your crazy weather on the east coast I’m glad I’m on the west side. Working in the rain what a pain. That awning install definitely helps but isn’t a 100% guarantee fix. There’s usually an underline issue like a sensor screwing up or poor metals in the one box deteriorating. But only diag with a computer will tell us. Dealers should have a lot of info on this but than again it all comes down to the tech working on it.

Great video. Am I to assume that this would be a good time to do the Dpf filters? I happened on the comments on the Aforementioned codes. I am beginning to see these codes at 475000 miles. Do you think that there's a possibility that it could be the harness that is the culprit? I realise there's a lot of diagnostic that goes into it, just come to throwing that out there. Thanks again for the video.
@bustedknucklebydieseldr32283 жыл бұрын
Thanks for reaching out. Yes this would be a great time to do the filters since one is going to be out anyway. 500k miles they should be getting close to plugged up anyway. Harness is rarely the issue unless you had circuit failed codes. Otherwise usually a sensor issue. Hope that helps

The awning definitely helps but doesn’t always cure the issue. If you have over 500k on that truck than your one box may not be able to clean well enough causing this code to come active. There’s a lot of test la that need to be done before making that $10k call.

Thanks for reaching out man. I wouldn’t think it’s the vgt having an issue unless it’s throwing a code for that or having boost issues. I would focus on the onebox and all the sensors on it. Thanks for watching man Don’t forget pass the videos on to all your peeps. That code is diabolical. Plagued Detroit and Cummins for many years. There are so many things it could be. Biased sensor, def build up in one box system , old one and deteriorated metals,bad def,heavy load uphill and ghost code. Sadly that code can drive us crazy to find. Good question. So the new generation comes with an awning built in so there quite a few other things that would cause this. Such as a def doser not producing the correct amount of def, any of the sensors drifting, intake or exh leaks. Really a tech would just have to start from the beginning and go through a long check list. Luckily it should be under warranty being a 19.
