The french bulldog is a smart and loving dog, that is strongly connected to his human family. The breed is a fun loving and freethinker, that is easy to train with positive training tactics. If you are considering the French bulldog as your next pet, here are five things you should know.
5. Because of a legacy extreme and often times poor breeding practices the French Bulldog has more than their share of health issues. One of the more apparent and deadly is their short muzzle, which affects the dog’s breathing and ability to regulate body temperature. For this reason you want to make sure you Frenchie doesn’t over exert himself in hot and/or humid weather.
4. The French bulldog has a single short coat. This means the breed is not suited for cold weather. If you do live in a cold climate, be sure to provide your French Bulldog with extra covering. This is fairly easy as it seems there are a ton of doggie boutiques, selling practical and stylish clothes for your dog.
3. French Bulldogs are great for apartments and small homes. The breed does not require a lot of exercise. They are relatively low energy dog, although you may find an exception from time to time. Because the breed is not likely to burn a lot of energy it is important to regulate their weight by feeding them a high quality, calorie appropriate diet.
2. French bulldogs love children and children generally lover Frenchies. The French bulldog is a born entertainer and can occupy a child’s attention for long stretches of time. The breed is small but not so fragile, however like with any breed of dog, never leave a child and a dog unsupervised. Harm could be inflicted by either party.
1. The french bulldog has been selectively bred to retain certain mutations of Dwarfism. The result is a breed susceptible to intervertebral disk disease, osteochondritis dissecans, hip dysplasia , vertebral malformations, disk herniation, spina bifida, and reproductive problems. To best avoid these conditions, it is important to keep you Frenchie at optimal weight. Do not overfeed your French Bulldog!

The French Bulldog is one of my dream dogs to own and it's so sad that some people only want a Frenchie because of their cuteness. If I ever get a French Bulldog, I will make sure beforehand that I have enough money to pay for surgery to open the airways since they have a short muzzle.

Mine is ace but he hates people and would never leave him with a stranger but he loves other dogs, full of energy yet can sleep like miss Beauty. A real one man dog, we have our fall outs be always end up chilling together. Great breed but just buy from a reputable breeder, see their parents too. Watch that hot weather though, it could kill them in an instance, conversely wrap em up in the cold, mine hates it but likes the rain? Oh and don't forget you turn into their personal beautician, cleaning their ears and folds, mine loves his ears being cleaned. Its effectively like having a bloody Gremlin :D

We are getting a french bulldog this summer! We decided it would be great since im a bit lonely and depressed. Its gonna be mostly mine, but mom and dad are going to take care while im at school. Its gonna be fantastic. Norway can be cold in the winter but ill be sure to keep it at a nice temprature. We have a great place for walking. All around me we have short, middle and long places to walk with nice nature. Im just happy to get a bestie i can finally trust. We are getting a female and im thinking about either calling it Ekko (ecko) or Maja. Its gonna be a lot of work as a 13 year old but im so happy. Im thinking im gonna have a nice time with it.

Qwee , I’ve had my 2 years old bitch Frenchie for 2 weeks now. I got her because I suffer from very bad depression and never leave the house, I live on my own and thought this would give me a reason to get out and about. I live in Scotland which can be very cold too. This has been a wise choice as she has really brought some joy into my life, now I don’t feel stupid going out for a walk on my own and she gets me plenty smiles and conversation from the girls 😊 She is the most cuddliest dog I’ve ever seen, she would lie snuggling up on the sofa face to face all day and night if you let her. They are so funny and full of fun. I hope you get one because I know it would definitely help you with your depression. Good luck 😉

I work at a doggy daycare and both French and English bulldogs are the best breeds ever! English bulldogs are lazy and want snacks and head rubs and Frenchies just want to play all day lol.

My frenchie likes it cooler. The cold doesn't bother her TOO bad. But, we're only outside for a couple of minutes in the cold-cold so she can do her business, then I carry her back in so her paws don't get too cold. She def doesn't NOT like the heat! Other than that, she is the sweetest doggo ever.
