My husband got me one during a very difficult time in my life. My mom was hospitalized for 3 weeks with covid and eventually passed. My Jax helped me so much each day. He’s the most loving pet I’ve owned. He does good on his own when no ones home.

Haha!! My Frenchie girl lives a dream life! She’s with me 24/7 as I work in the veterinary field and she comes to work with me everyday (she even has scrubs lol). Because she is constantly cuddled and loved up by my coworkers she is a very very sweet dog. Great with all people 😁. She didn’t take too long to train and she’s very friendly and playful with other dogs. I know my situation is probably the ideal for a Frenchie but I have to say I will always own them!! The breed has stolen my heart ❤️

Your 5 points are exactly on point! In the past 16 years we've had a chocolate lab and currently an English Bulldog. We gifted our Daughter a French Bulldog as a companion now that she is in University. He is a great companion pet and does well in her apartment. He can't do long walks, or long car rides and grooming of his paws, and wrinkles needs to be done daily, brushing 2x a week. He is absoulutly on guard during the night, once the lights go out he reacts to a pindrop. Regular puppy training went well but we are progressing into more advanced training since its a must with his personality, being smart can lead to stubborn.

I have a Frenchie and you're right about everything! Mine was easy to train though. Super easy. Don't get a Frenchie unless you're ready for it to be with you ALL the time. I mean ALL the time! They require lots of maintenance (Fur, skin folds, tail pocket, ears etc.). With that being said, I wouldn't trade my Frenchie for the world. He's my everything!

Thank you so much for making this video! Frenchie's are so adorable and I can see why people love them but based on what you're saying I should DEFINITELY not get one. I split my time between Hawai'i and the upper peninsula of Michigan (basically Canada) we travel allot, we hike allot and my family members who are not in Hawaii are in central Arizona where it's very very hot. Guess I'll have to stick with the Australian cattle dog. I love my Heeler more than life itself but she's a bigger version of the breed at 50lbs. I'll just look for a smaller Heeler next time. Researching these things because she's 16 years old now. Thanks for the info.

Very accurate video and well balanced. Ex Forces dog handler and Frenchie owner. Just a comment on the flying concerns. Most major airlines have revised their controls on transporting Brachycephalic breeds some like Qantas even stopped completely until getting external advice from vets on safe transportation. It is now much safer and easier to transport them via air but only when absolutely necessary. One tip missing. Say goodbye to your personal space lol you will have an extra shadow for life!!!

All dogs are a little different, mostly spot on with my Frenchie except he does make a good guard dog. He alerts me and barks a different bark than usual when he hears something (or thinks he hears something) in the house and is very protective of me. Still, he does have a loving nature toward all people but takes him a minute to warm up to new visitors in our home.

Will!! Your comments work! Lol! Please please do a video on IVDD. I'm a long time Frenchie lover. I can't imagine my life without them. We recently had my youngest have to have IVDD surgery. It was the surgery or I had to put her down. 8000.00 us dollars we spent. I see Frenchie owners have their adorable dogs diagnosed with this almost daily on Frenchie fan pages. People just DONT know. I feel strongly that a spotlight needs to be put on IVDD. So much focus is put on their breathing...their tendency for spinal issues is truly heartbreaking and can hit you out of nowhere.

I’m a waiter who owns a Frenchie. I was nervous at first about the separation anxiety, but he’s REALLY adaptable! I just make sure we play really hard before I leave for work. And if it’s going to be a long shift, my family helps me with his walks. So my 2 cents is, don’t knock the Frenchie if you have a small support system to help you. It doesn’t take much, and my Krug aka Bubz is really happy.

I need help. Just got a 6mo male frenchie & he keeps attacking my other 2 male dogs, especially my pitbull. He will play together but he will go after them over just about anything. If he's on the bed with us 1st & the other dog tries to get up, he attacks, if he has anything such as toys food, water & even ice cubes, if the dogs walk in his general direction HE LEAPS AT THEM & STARTS ATTACKING. SMH The other dogs hold back since he's smaller & when I yell stop & break them up they are fine, not my puppy ;( he will keep trying to get to them. Last night I broke up a fight & he bite me in the process & drew blood. If you have any tips or suggestions for this I'd greatly appreciate it.

I've got a frenchie/English bulldog cross and I love him to bits but I'd never have another one. He's the most stubborn little sod I've ever met. I always say the he's well trained for a frenchie because I really did do my best with him. The comands he knows he does well and he's got all the important ones down but I swear he actively chose not the bother learning anything else. He doesn't get separation anxiety though, possibly because I grew up with a collie so walking a dog for less than an hour just feels wrong. He gets tired out and spends most of the day sleeping on the couch.

My frenchie walk between 6-10 kms a day and has zero breathing issue. I walk in the countryside but we don’t run. As for training to be honest, he is well behaved cannot complain but then again as long as he comes straight when I call him, is friendly and is well potty trained, I am really happy. As for health yes, this is a concern snd I am always very careful but have to be very careful especially when weather is hot… adorable dog and lives well in an apartment, no barking, no destruction. If you like long trail runnin biking, do not adopt one. Diet is also an issue. Another thing, they say frenchie cannot stay alone which is wrong. He stays homme 3/4 hours when i am at work and have zero issue

Hi, I've been wanting to buy a French bulldog for a long time and I don't want to put the option aside, because I really want one, but the question is do I have to worry about transporting it in my car? Well, once a year I go to a summer house that I have on vacation and the trip takes an hour, he would go in the back seat of the truck with the window open. Sorry for the inconvenience, I would appreciate if you answer my question since I need to solve it as soon as possible.

Agree with most points to a point. Lana has her nose folds groomed daily-her ears once a week.I am home with her all day but she loves to sleep in her bed or on the couch. I am mobility limited so short walks work best. We live in a hot climate but she always has access to water and A/C. She will Sun herself but when she gets warm she comes inside. She LOVES traveling!!!! We go in my truck and she loves looking out. We have a tether that clicks into the seatbelt latch and on to her harness. Room enough to move but not restrictive. FINIALLY,she is a fierce watch dog. When the ring doorbell goes off her hair stands up and she barks at the door. Not big enough to hurt anyone but let’s us know!!! Wouldn’t trade her for the world!!!!!!

They are adorable but I fell in love with toy poodles first. Unfortunately my toy, in her declining years, with her arthritis, collapsing trachea when excited and sensitivity to heat, she sounds more like a French bulldog, but I just got her a stroller 2 years ago when she turned 13 and the frenchies need one their whole life. Love them though, the frenchies. Poodles are sensitive, too, and can’t be left alone either. And although they don’t shed, and I have proudly learned to groom her myself during the pandemic, the whole shebang, poodles are definitely VERY high maintenance. Now we are getting older together and once she breaks my heart, when I have to say goodbye, I will name the next poodle after one of her nicknames. I just love dogs, especially the little ones, they are definitely more loyal and true than most people I have known.

Well... maybe you bought from a bad breeder and bought an exotic color (ex. Blue or Merle). My Frenchie is extremely healthy and active, but that is because we keep him active everyday since we live at a lake in Canada with lots of fun ways for them to stay active. Mine is 7/8 Frenchie and 1/8 Boston, so that could contribute to his better health. My Frenchie would absolutely hate being in a stroller lol!

Don't know about bulldogs (I have a Newfoundland). Responsible breeder may suggest to get the second puppy for half a price. At least couple of breeders were suggesting this option if they knew that your puppy will spend a long time inside alone. But I think it depends on the breed (some dogs do not like to share their family with anyone), and on the breeder (many care about their dogs more then amount of money they are making)

I agree with a lot of these statements. I do think the health issues are still kind of a hit or miss. I lost my frenchie at 11 from a heart tumor. Otherwise he had no health issues so I guess I was lucky, but I was always very careful with him in the heat. I now have a new frenchie puppy. I can’t live without one, they are just the sweetest most loving dogs. They are very needy and if someone can’t spend a lot of time with them, they shouldn’t get one. What does help them being separated from you though is having other dogs to keep them company. I have always had other dogs so when I did leave my Frenchie for a few hours he wasn’t lonely.

agreed. my frenchie is 11 right now and he has had no serious health issues. he is showing signs of going blind. his eyes are getting milky. especially is right eye. but he 's 11 years old as well. all animals are eventually going to succumb to something. just like humans. considering frenchies have a lifespan of 12-14 years i'd say he's had a pretty good life. one of the best investments i ever made was getting him. if i can afford to get another i might but they have gotten so expensive.

Owner here for over 6 years and you are 95% on point but all frenchies aren't the same and the smaller they are and more exotic looking the more true you are though. Stubborn yes, but they are willing to train and learn tricks, they are very needy yes, but the older they get the more they just want you around and a few pets and walks, they cannot walk long and far but love walks.

Accurate! People need to understand what they are getting into and be prepared! Just found out my French Bulldogs mom had her 2nd and last liter of puppies. I’m just as excited about it as I am stressing over it. Feel obligated to make sure they go to the right home. I literally spent the last hour trying to talk one the few people I know who’d be able to tend to a frenchies needs into NOT adopting this sweet 3 legged mixed breed pup from the pound. 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄 Instead spend thousands of dollars on a frenchie and expect many expensive trips to the vet. I feel like such a dick...

That's why you buy from a breeder who does very thorough health tests. I'm picking up my puppy tomorrow and her parents (and grandparents) are free of kissing spines, they are taller, have longer backs, they have longer tails, open nostrils and long muzzles. The breeder has seven dogs and non of them make these typical grunting sounds short muzzled dogs usually make. I hope that all breeders eventually start breeding healthier bulldogs, they have such great characters.

@@Themagicunitato The key is not to give them too much water. The water builds up in their sinuses, head, and joints and turns into inflammation. That's why it's hard to breathe. I give mine a little water in the morning (1/2 cup), take her bowl up, and give her a little water around 6pm (1/2 cups). that's it.

@@hairrus7278 That's definetly not enough water for an adult dog though. Water is very imortant for joints and cartilages. Never heard of anything like this. Feed a high quality food and give them joint supplements when they're old enough.

Not sure I agree with a lot of this video . We just acquired a 16 month old Frenchie who is perfectly fine sleeping in his cage at night and occasionally likes to go in the cage during the day . As far as being a guard dog he sure as hell lets us know when anybody is at the door or in fact walking by the house . I don't have any comment on Vet bills other than I suspect you might be right BUT having brought up two Kids expenses are a way of life . We live in a downtown location in a three storey house and our guy runs the stairs like an Olympic Steeplechaser , also we have more than our fair share of wildlife including Squirrels, Racoons the occasional skunk and Birds . He pretty much objects to all of them however he earned his keep recently when he nailed an impressive rat who made the mistake of checking out our garbage cans which is a down side to City living and being close to Restaurant s . He is work and at 25 lbs he is not the perfect Lap Dog and with those Bat ears and face he makes you laugh quite regularly .

I have 3 Frenchie's, 2 don't mind road trips, one, absolutely hates them. But once we get going and he's allowed to sit in someone's lap, or in direct line of sight of me, he mellows out. Schedule breaks for quick walks and water, and keep them close, and long trips should be fine ;)

It’s fine, make sure to secure them in the car though! A dog seatbelt + harness and or a dog seat to make them super comfy. Mine rides in a booster seat. It’s not safe for dogs to be in the passenger seat :)

My Frenchie loved long car rides. She and I travelled alot together doing 11-12 hr drives. As soon as she saw me with luggage she'd get so excited and wait by the door. Once that door opened she ran straight to the car and waited by the door until I put her in. She loved it!

I've had many breeds as pets.. but this is a breed with a difference ! You just cannot [let alone one dog !!], leave even a pair of them at home by themselves, under any circumstances. They are extremely affectionate, velcro dogs that need atleast one caring family member to be in constant contact with them, every few hours or they tend to suffer. This is not a habit to break, this friendly breed has been developed, as such ! More like having a child at home ! 😍
