Built in 1854 by one of Napoleon III’s generals, its elegant Moorish style was inspired by his time in north Africa. You will love the way the elegant château emerges through the trees as you approach up the long driveway.
During the last war, the house played an active role: being at the very limit of free France it became a safe refuge for hundreds, organised by Dutch painter Conrad Kickert (who exhibited with Picasso and Gaugin) and supported by the Dutch government - photos hang in the hallway. The blend of such a tranquil setting, and such a rich history, gives this chateau an uplifting character.

There are some lovely villages and restaurants around here, only a short drive away. The city of Limoges is under 1 hour. Limoges airport (Gatwick, Stanstead, Manchester, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Bristol, Southampton), 45 minutes.
