@farmeunit

@@theodorvepper Look for Mosquito Dunks. Just read instructions, they don't need a lot to work. Put them in buckets around your property. Honestly, with that much standing water from neighbors, it might be an uphill battle. They would need to treat their standing water, as well. If you can get some bats to roost in yard, they eat up a ton. Or develop a dragonfly colony and they will pretty much wipe them out. All more work but ultimately will help more.

@@theodorvepperMosquito dunks/Mosquito Bits are great! They are just corn cob bits that are coated in a bacteria called BT which is harmless to everything except mosquito larvae, fungus gnat larvae, and some caterpillars/maggots/grubs. They eat the bacteria and it infects their GI tract poisoning them and they starve to death. It's a slow process that takes a week or so. Be patient and keep up with applying them. I use it to prevent fungus gnats in my houseplants. 😎👍

Consider berms in your landscaping ideas. Flat high grounds, with berms whose valley drops gradually like a french drain, without the cost of a french drain, to a center water feature that can water your entire yard. Inclusive. Genius.

It's it always necessary for it to have somewhere to go if it's not a lot of water? I have a covered patio and the rain runs off the roof and puddles right there. I live in Louisiana so the ground can take a lot of water just takes a few hours to absorb and in the meantime I have standing water. I was thinking of putting in the French drain in hopes that it will get rid of the standing water faster and just make my yard nicer. Because grass can't grow there anyway. I thought it would be fine for the water to sit in the drain and leach back into the ground underneath and beside...

My opinion, the grade should be fixed to prevent the squishiness as that's an indicator of too much rain water for the yard to take. Help the french drain by "slightly" grading to it. That squishiness renders an unusable portion of yard and that's not going anywhere for at least two days of full sunshine. I've dealt with it and know it well.

Yes the water that you hear me walking over is water that's rushing from the neighbors into my client's yard but it's going down Underground through the pipes into a sump pump and shooting it out to the street before the system was built he used to get water all the way towards her home now we collect it at a certain point and shoot it to the street thanks for watching

@@samsfrenchdrains My lot is the lowest of the surrounding 5 lots and we get flooded every spring. Not the house, just the back fence line. I have also considered that I'm going to be paying to pump everybody's water out to the street. Peace of mind is right. That pump would only run 24-30 hours a year. A pittance to avoid the destruction that water can do. I just wish my neighbors picked up after their dogs, all their poop water and floaters comes to my yard.

That is a hybrid French drain there are two perforated pipes at the bottom one solid pipe up top to collect the bulk water through the little basins and the downspouts run through the same solid pipe all the way to a pump from there out to the street maybe you need to take your test again 😂

WHAT IS HAPPENING . IS THE GROUND IS TOO COMPACTED . WHICH MEAN THE GROUND CANNOT ACCEPT ANY WATER. AT ALL. IF YOU HAD PROPER DRAINAGE IN THE GROUND . THE WATER WOULD BE ABLE TO FLOW INTO THE UNDER WATER RESEVRES.

The problem here is that the clay does not allow the water to percolate therefore it just becomes a sponge in my clients backyard then it doesn't help that all the water from her neighbors comes towards her backyard so we route all the water on the ground to give it some place to go and from there the sump pump shoots it all to the front yard I will send you a link to show you thanks for watching

I get that you hear a little bit of squishiness but from looking at this video you have to see all that water that's from her neighbors against the fence is flowing through her yard and instead of it sitting in her yard it's going down into the French drain and we're shooting it all the way out to the street when this client first called me 3 years ago water would sit in that back area as if there was a pool and then the water would run and back up towards the house I'm not trying to do too much editing and want to show you guys raw footage of the systems in action
