THIS is what I want! I’m a French teacher. Back in November, I decided that after 11 years of teaching French, I want to be a French chef. I begin my journey in a French culinary institute in August 2021. 👨🏻‍🏫👉🏻👨🏻‍🍳

Can anyone here recommend a TV series or stand alone documentary that speaks about French haute cuisine, like the history and origins, the masters, etc? Has France24 made one?

Hello *ThisPanda,* There are a few cooking video playlists in my YT channel, in the very last section of the homepage (at the very bottom of the page) if that helps (including one that talks about the history of cooking). It's a series of several episodes which starts in antiquity until the French Revolution. This is the last playlist in the *"CUISINE, RECETTES."* section (you must therefore click on the small arrow on the far right to scroll through the playlists that are not directly visible). The playlist is called: *“GASTRONOMY - L'HISTOIRE EN CUiSINE”* But, most of the videos are in French. However, on some of them, you can select automatic translation in the settings of the video window. If you don't know how to enable automatic translation, ask, I'll explain. Have a pleasant week. Cheers,

Food is first and foremost nourishment and Joy! when Foods are labeled Fine or Fancy, an unjustified claim, it's no longer Food.. it's an over-exaggerated belief reflecting a serious "superiority" complex

@@dxcSOUL Poor persuasion tactic. Authentic people are genuine and have no inferiority /superiority complex. They are true to themselves, their values, beliefs and identity. They don't envy, nor need attention or the admiration of others. They don't need to impress others or fit in with the crowd. They are happy and have inner confidence They never try to be someone they are not

French food honestly feels a bit overrated. So little flavours and herbs and the flavours are always so muted. For a European cuisine, I'd definitely go Italian or Greek. french food is kinda like the Japanese food of East Asian cuisines. Pleasant, enjoyable but unsurprising. Maybe it's cos french techniques have so permeated all western foods that now it's become very common fare.

During the 15th and 16th centuries the French were influenced by the progressing culinary arts in Italy. Much of this happened because of Catherine de' Medici (a Florentine princess) who married Henry duc d'Orleans (who later became King Henry II). Italian cooks were light years ahead of French culinary specialists. These chefs had started making a variety of dishes including manicotti and lasagna. In addition, they had tested the use of divine ingredients like garlic, truffles, and mushrooms. When Catherine wedded King Henry II, she brought her Italian cooks to France, introducing Italian culinary practices to the French court. Despite the fact that the culinary cultures of these two nations are vastly different, the French owe a lot of their culinary advancement to the Italians and their innovations in the 1500s.

T@@giovannidifabrizio4360 This is not True.... one of the Italian spread myths around Catherine de Medicis : it was Catherine of Hungary who did in the 12th century.... at a time where florentines where still eating with their hands. and its backed by historical studies... not KZbin university...

Everey princess in Europe who married abroad went with her court and chefs...Garlic truffle and mushrooms can be find in recipes as early as the 5th century in Franc. and the French cuisine was created under the merovingian dynasty... and perfectionnée by Alienor of Aquitaine in the 12 th century.... Catherine of Medicis has a first meal at the Tour d'Argent restaurant in Paris... a fine dining restaurant that still exist to this day. Fun Fact: Lasagna is an ancestral greek dish.... Oh and while France existed as kingdom at the time Italy didn't... so the odds that aFlorentine lady raised in Rome bought a Bolognese (enemy city of Firenze) dish with her at the time... is as realistic as the sun rising at noon. PS: you should study French cuisine History... it exists since antiquity and has a wide range of variety than what you imagine

Food and Drink as ancient Symbols, Not modern! Mealtimes are events when the whole Family or community comes together. Eating food can also be an occasion for sharing, for giving to others, like Parents give food to their children, a mother gives her milk to her infant, making food a Symbol of Love and Security! Two thousand years ago Jesus taught us to share food with others. He used food for both instruction and revelation, and food items bear a religious symbolism in the way they are made or the way they are eaten. In Christianity bread and wine have a symbolic meaning. Indeed, many dietary habits are derived from religious laws with certain foods chosen or avoided according to religious beliefs.. In *modern* *destructive* societies Food indicates the "status", "power" & "wealth" of fake Individuals, violating Human development and changing human nature!!!!
