Why are you proud of anything the colonial French or really the French in general have done for you, especially if you’re Nigerian pretty sure France has a very long history of some pretty screwed up ventures into Africa for various reasons and aims , and they always leave a huge mess any where they went. Obviously this doesn’t apply really much anymore with the current landscape of French politics , but really have the French not done enough for them to just be the quiet stupid sleepy villages that they are and give us some god damn champagne, and bake me some croissants. Like cmon. The if the French were an animal they would be a Rat. A big ratatouille ass.

For those that didn't know, this anthem is actually used in Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture (the one with the cannons) as the piece marks a battle between the Russians and Napoleon. The piece documents Napoleon's arrival, the early victories of Napoleon but then Russia's victory (the most famous part of the piece). There's a better explanation of what the different parts mean on a comment section of the 1812 Overture I think.

My French-born Grand-pere said, "Well, if you're going to sing that one, you need to learn the other. He then proceeded to teach me "La Marseillaise," and 68 years later, I still sing it.

@@AndrewEdwardBailey what you want them to mention lgbtq+, furries, internet, Phones? They could mention in a song "and advancing technology" though it doesnt sound related A nation can only be united through its history, thats why some african nations have tons of unrest, theres other ethnic groups with different histories, because they had different nations. The middle ages, early and middle modern era and victoria era were the most exciting for europeans and made up TONS of its history. They constantly fought for their nation and pride, why change it to an anthem with shitty modern music like "can we kiss forever" or the other music tiktokers use? I'd much rather see people make up a good song with talking about its nation and history instead of hearing can we kiss forever hymn and "Our people, gays, blacks, or albino, doesnt matter at all!" thats why. if you're a person who would like to hear "and our internet is great" in an anthem then I dont understand. The anthem is supposed to represent your people, not a group of them (like albinos, gays, blacks etc.), and its most likely done by saying proudful stuff or historical stuff. Israel anthem, for example "Looking to zion (jerusalem)" or "2000 Years", which are both prideful and historical. It makes people feel more united. Or "heil dir kaiser im siegerkranz", representing the king of germany, who the people love, who made germany into a great state. but internet? , No. thats not something to proud of.

Respect from the United States of America, we love our French brothers so much. You guys blessed us with your appearence in our Revolutionary War in 1781, and we thank you with all our American hearts. And in World War 2, we were at a stale mate because of us not helping you during the Nazi invasion on the tenth day of May in 1940 (America did not enter WW2 yet) but for reperations, we allowed you to take charge and lead our armies to retake your capital and country. Another prime example of our eternal brotherhood is the terrorist attacks on Paris in early 2015, we immediately pledged our help and aid to your country, even offering free defense systems and spots for French tourists in our land. And for all that we've been through, us Americans pledge our love and gratitude to our first and still one of our strongest and fondest allies, France. America and France forever 🇺🇸❤🇫🇷. And in Dunkirk, there where a lot of brave French soldiers that stayed back to fight the nazis seemingly unstoppable army. But we also need to talk about the French who would try to escape France in dead British uniforms. (Either being killed by the French or found dead.) just throwing it out there 😅.

A lot of people misundestand this (some french too) : "Qu'un sang impur abreuve nos sillons" / " so that the impure blood waters our fields" doesn't talk about the enemy blood. The impur blood is the blood of we, the people. In opposition of the pure blood (the nobles) During the Revolution - and especially the attack on the Austrians - the nobles fled and so there were only "Impure Blood" (Republicans), as opposed to "Pure Blood" (Royalists). At the cry of "The nation is in danger", they were commoners who took up arms to fight the invader and who were willing to shed their own blood for freedom. So, "Let unclean blood water our furrows" therefore means that it is our "Unclean Blood" to US, the people who will feed our lands.

Historical facts: when the German broke through the Maginot Line, the French fought alone and destroyed a large part of the German tanks and planes while the British army ran away back to England from Dunkirk. 234,000 British soldiers were saved thanks to the French army in what is called “Operation Dynamo”. The German said, “The English will fight until the last French”... When the German attacked, the Allied Forces had planned a counterattack in Arras. But without telling the French and Belgian, the British Colonel Gort ordered his troops to withdraw to Dunkirk to go back to Britain in what was called "Operation Dynamo". If Colonel Gort, the British officer that started Operation Dynamo, had decided to fight with the French against the German instead of abandoning their allies, Hitler might have lost the war as soon as June 1940. Why? Because the French army alone managed to destroy about 50% of ALL the panzers that the Wehrmacht had, and the French and British Air Force managed to destroy 65% of ALL the planes that the Wehrmacht had. Hitler had taken a big risk, and put his entire military resources into this battle. On May 28th, Belgium capitulated. The French were left alone to fight against 120,000 German soldiers and 800 tanks, and managed to stop the German progression during four days, giving enough time to the British soldiers to evacuate and return to the UK. The French army eventually lost the battle on June 4th, because they couldn’t get any supply, and ran out of ammunition. And yet, the 137th French regiment, out of ammunition, didn’t even stop fighting, they attacked the German army with only their bayonets! Only 50 soldiers of the regiment survived. At the end of the battle, a German officer asked a French officer, “Where are the British soldiers?”. The French officer answered “In Britain”... Colonel Wäger (= Waeger), German officer, was so impressed by the French defense that he allowed the captured French soldiers to parade with their rifles shouldered while the German soldiers saluted them! (picture: i.redd.it/ap0qhnlviuq41.jpg , www.quora.com/Why-did-German-general-Kurt-Waeger-grant-units-of-the-French-First-Army-of-G%C3%A9n%C3%A9ral-Molini%C3%A9-the-honours-of-war-saluting-the-French-troops-as-they-marched-past-in-parade-formation-with-rifles-shouldered ) German General Küchler: “I find in these French soldiers the same ardour as those of Verdun in 1916. We've not been able to break through anywhere, and we are suffering terrifying losses...” Winston Churchill: “These Frenchmen, under the gallant leadership of General Molinié, had for four critical days contained no less than seven German divisions which otherwise could have joined in the assaults on the Dunkirk perimeter. This was a splendid contribution to the escape of their more fortunate comrades of the BEF”. After many British soldiers had already left the place, the British officers said “operation complete”... Churchill was the only one who insisted that the French soldiers should be saved as well after helping the Brits, and thanks to him about 100,000 French soldiers could be evacuated at the end of Operation Dynamo. Only a few hours later, the evacuated French soldiers sailed back to Brest and Cherbourg in France from England in order to go on fighting, while the British were celebrating their soldiers back home as if they had been victorious... On June 14th, the British launched Operation Ariel to withdraw all remaining British troops from France. Abandoned by their allies and left alone, Pétain signed the armistice after several conferences with De Gaulle, Churchill and Weygand to find the best solution in this dismay and for the long term to avoid civil disorder and the possible rise of communists in Paris, while other ministers opposed to an armistice and wanted to go on fighting ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippe_P%C3%A9tain#Fall_of_France ). President Lebrun requested President Roosevelt for assistance in June 16, but the American president let the French down as well and only replied with vague promises. They only entered war several years later at a more opportune moment for them. The French army lost because of the strategy and decisions of their allies and French Etat-Major, but they had never shown anything but courage on the battlefield, which was not the case of the British. And who else better than the German can judge the reality when they said “The English will fight until the last French”? The German lost more tanks against the French in the Battle of Dunkirk in a short time than in the battle of Kursk which is considered the greatest tank battle in history. The British left behind them all their equipment (700 tanks, 45,000 motor vehicles, etc.), and its army was heavily weakened. By saving the British elite soldiers in Dunkirk, the French army allowed the UK to reorganize its army and defend its territory against the Nazi. The British called that “The Miracle of Dunkirk” to avoid explaining that they had actually run away and were saved by the French, hiding the truth behind the romantic image that they were saved by 850 Little Boats of British, Dutch and Belgian civilians. On June 2000, Prince Charles said: “Without the success of Operation Dynamo, without the fierce fighting around Dunkirk that held the ring long enough for 240,000 British and 95,000 French servicemen to be taken off the beaches, without the sacrifices made by those who never returned home, D-Day may never have taken place at all” Former Royal Artilleryman George Kay, 80, said: “Some people say Dunkirk was a defeat, but if all those men like me had not been rescued we could not have gone on to fight and win the war. Without Dunkirk, there would have been no Normandy - the miracle of Dunkirk should therefore be very precious to us all.” In 1944, thanks to the French Resistance who provided all the documents and maps concerning the infrastructures, enemy positions and enemy supply to the Americans, British and Canadians, Operation Overlord could be planned, the famous D-Day. The French Resistance blocked the German army by a series of sabotage actions, destroyed ammunition dumps, fuel depots, phone lines, power plants, roads so that the German couldn’t reach the beaches to fight against the Allies. These actions were called "Plans Vert, Rouge, Bleu, Violet, Jaune, Noir and Tortue". Even General Eisenhower in his memoirs "Crusade in Europe", said: "Throughout France, the Free French had been of inestimable value in the campaign. They were particularly active in Brittany, but on every portion of the front we secured help from them in a multitude of ways. Without their great assistance, the liberation of France and the defeat of the enemy in Western Europe would have consumed a much longer time and meant greater losses to ourselves", and estimated the value of the Resistance to have been equal to ten to fifteen divisions at the time of the landings" (One infantry division comprised about ten thousand soldiers) ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Resistance ) So why this absurd joke about French surrendering while the French army is actually the one that won the most battles in history ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpivfImXf9yjjrs )? The USA and UK started a French-bashing campaign when the French refused to attack Iraq in 2003. After the World Trade Center attack in 2001, President Bush needed to show to his voters that America would take revenge. Colin Powell presented forged documents to the UN to lure other nations into thinking that Saddam Hussein was developing chemical weapons, and that an attack was required. The French president Jacques Chirac didn’t fall into the trap, and refused to attack a country based on false data. The Americans were furious that the French didn’t follow them to war, and started spreading wrong information about the French. The British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, took the wrong decision and followed the USA into an illegitimate war against Iraq. Now observe the consequences of the Americans attacking Iraq. About 1 million innocent people were killed, children, women, mothers, and the country was left in chaos. Hatred against the West started to grow in the population, which led to the creation of small terrorist groups that later became Daesh and that shaped the world we are living in today. Some uneducated American and British people still enjoy echoing their government’s propaganda these days, without realizing that the shame in on their own face.

Always been at the top of my class, from grade 1 all throughout school and university. Judging people because they use "lol" and other things that have become a habit for most internet users is just plain stupid. You're copypasting that everywhere but it doesn't change the fact that the Germans defeated your country and you surrendered. That's what people usually talk about, not your entire history, and that's why they joke about white flags and such. Germans were still fairly inexperienced in 1940 lol, you think the french army would have given them a hard time anywhere if they faced the type of German soldiers who were fighting on the eastern front in 1943-44? Or even '42. Don't think so. And btw, defensive fighting is different from offense (obviously). Basically, defending is easier than attacking, and so is inflicting casualties on the attacking forces. That was demonstrated by the soviet casualties too.
