While I do think Djokovic has always been a tad desperate for approval/adulation, it's unfair to dampen every good moment on that basis. Think this is one of those cases; genuine generosity as opposed to contrived goodwill or obsequiousness.

pirozky I'm guessing he's just seen how Novak can act in a match when some things don't go his way, how he's retired from so many matches, etc.. However, I think most of that behavior is in the past and he overall is a humble person..... when he's in the right mood, of course.
@sylviec5228
@sylviec5228 10 жыл бұрын
pirozky haha, what a loser you are. Do you feel better insulting strangers on the forums, do your balls grow bigger this way? LOL I never said I disliked Nole, on contrary, I like him very much off court. I don't like his on court antics but as a person I like him. I think he's kind, funny and easy going man. But he's not humble. That's it - explained with a lot of words for people like you.
@FirstnameLastname-vz1lq
@FirstnameLastname-vz1lq 10 жыл бұрын
Sylvie C Novak does get frustrated and angry AT HIMSELF, on the court, as do others, but he IS very humble, perhaps not in the way you'd imagine... Rather, his 'success' has ONLY made him work harder to help others.

Firstname Lastname I understand all that, I have never said he was rude to his opponents, judges, crowd etc. But I still don't like his on court antics. This is not to say I don't like him though. And I still don't see him as a humble person. But I take your opinion and thank you for the very respectful and civilized way you get your point across.

Even if he did that to get people to like him which I don't think as he's a very humbling character… he went out of his way to make that guys day and had a chat with him putting him on the same level which is extremely rare in sport today, I think it was a lovely gesture. If you're hating you're just jealous or have some built in problems.

Why would anyone like tennis? Players sprint upwards of a mile or more per match, while having to stop on a dime and hit a ball (with precision) coming at them 70 to over a 100 miles per hour. They don't have coaches on the sideline, telling them what to do, no teammates supporting them, no second-stringers for when they get tired or wounded. It's just them, their wit, athleticism, speed, strength, endurance, stamina and skill. (No other sport comes close, or is expected to play as many hours in one day, then get up and do it again tomorrow, in front of the world. And there sure ain't no half-time show where they get to go in and freshen up for a bit :)

***** You're right dude but let mt give you my opinion about endurance in tennis. I play tennis so i also know what i am talking about. But i also do running, football (soccer if you're american) indoor soccer (futsal) and mountain biking. The thing is that a 4 hour tennis match seems a lot but in fact the playing time is a small percentage of the total time. In cycling, for example if you ride 4 hours you're pedaling most of the time (not in most descents, but even though you have to handle the bike which is pretty exhausting) so you can never rest. In tennis you rest every 2 game and you take a lot of time while preparing for the serve, drying yourself... So in my opinion tennis is not the most physically demanding sport. Cycling and running are, in general much harder. Pro's play tennis in a master or grand slam every 2 day at least not because they are physically superior but because the sport itself is not that demanding as other sports. For example, in football (soccer) every match has 90min (45+45 and sometimes it can occur extra time) and no player can play a match at a decent level every 2 day for more than 1 week. In cycling, the riders can ride for three weeks (with one rest day at the middle in the tour de france for example) because cycling is not an impact sport so you can recover more easily.

Humanity working at its best. A ball boy's work is a hard job whether its rain or shine but Mr. Djokovic knew better. Call it an endorsement, a show for gaining popularity and all you want but what I see is a man with a good attitude. Let me ask, have you done something good and worthwhile to someone or a random stranger in the street just like what this man did to the ball boy? You speak like you think highly superior of yourselves yet you tend to forget that you work your way easier because you owe some of them with their dedication and hardwork. Think before you speak crap.

Novak is one of the most famous tennis players in the world and already one of the most liked tennis players in the world. He doesn't need to do anything just to gain popularity, but he still does things like this because this is who he is. He is a genuinely good person and if you followed him for even the last 3-4 years you would know all of this.

Novak does not need a popularity,he does not need world wide attention,he does not need financial gain,he has already achieved it all by his tennis glory himself !! Also he is not pretending,therefore all the haters better shut up..Over a million of visits in a day it says how much his attitude is interesting to the public...Well done soon to be again No1e!!

You know, it's just so wonderful to see someone who is seen as a 'higher person' compared to everyone else treat someone who is seen as a 'lower person' with so much respect and treat them as equals. Some people are truly kind and this video made me smile so much.

A great moment of a truly great person. It does make me sad though, that this (actually quite trivial) display of graciousness is even remarkable, that bad behaviour and bad taste, that selfishness and arrogance are so ingrained in us that a simple moment of basic decency is noteworthy as an Exception... especially coming from a sports figure. Bravo Mr. Djokovic; perhaps a few others might yet emulate his true Dignity.

The part before this should have also been uploaded. This was the 2nd set of the match and the match was previously stopped because of rain for an hour so this was basically the 2nd time it got stopped. And Novak was sorta unpleased with it since he had 1 more game to with the set. So, as they were sitting and waiting for the match to continue the camerman didn't know what to do and just filmed both players. At this point i guess Novak was bored so he started winking and doing random faces which were funny, got bored with it too and just went with the flow, and this is the result. If you'we watched some of his other videos you'll see that he always tries to entertain the crowd as much as he can and i guess he's just that way, no reason to hate....CAR!

I love Djokovic so much. I've never have a player that I adore as much. From the time he stepped up as a pro, I was fixated by him. That been said, I don't know about Serbs in general, the rest of the world is very suspicious of you guys after the genocide committed by Milosevic in Kosovo while u guys were sipping tea downtown Belgrade and didn't bother to do anything about it. Very suspicious of you, nevertheless I love your tennis players, both men and women, especially Ivanovic.

Pascal Bolivar Suspicious because ... ? They were JUST PROTECTING THEIR COUNTRY.So cut this shitty propaganda and learn. Kingdom of Romania and Serbia are the 2 most peacefull countries that ever existed. NEVER,but ABSOLUTELY NEVER,atacked nobody for any reason than defense,and that too,only from the inside our borders,so CUT THE CRAP. They were PROTECTING THEIR COUNTRY against fucked up albanians,who went into so called "kosovo" to STEAL a territory from Serbia. They've allready got a country called albania,and under the international law,if you're not a separate PEOPLE you CAN'T claim to be a different country. Still,they were recognised by some fuckers while the Honest AND ALWAYS PEACEFULL serbs got the bombs. Why ? Because that's how us operates : Divide e impera.

A great example to show that even in a position of popularity or importance, one must remain humble and sympathetic towards others. One should never be too important or too busy to help someone or impact their lives. Djokovic took a few moments of his break to impact that lucky ball boy for life. He now has an amazing story to tell and it wouldn't have happened had Djokovic thought himself too important to extend a gesture of kindness and goodwill.

so awkward for the other guy and the other kid holding the umbrella. its hard to respond because if he does, then he's doing it because of novak. if he doesn't, then he's an asshole. so its a lose-lose situation. oh well. glad this kid got enjoyment out of this. he seemed genuinely stoked.

*This isn't just for show or popularity, Djokovic truly does care for the people that work hard to make all of this happen. He has a track record on and off camera of treating each ballboy/girl with the upmost respect and to even play a quick game with them for their chance in the spotlight most athletes would never try or have time to share...*
