Nail tech here ! We technically aren’t allowed to do Russian manicures because they cut off all of the areas of the skin that protects your nails from infection the closing around the nails prevents bacteria even to what we think the “cuticle” Is. The cuticle is the dead skin on the nail not around it we are supposed to push back what we think the “cuticle” is to reveal what we call in the industry the “true cuticle “ as I said before the true cuticle is on the nail plate they be cutting the eponychium!
@Antibeautyguru4 ай бұрын
I’ve literally been cutting my cuticles or had my cuticles cut at a salon for over 10 years and I’ve never gotten an infection. That’s just a thing people in the U.S. say in my opinion because in Brazil it’s common practice to cut cuticles and women don’t ever have infections. And I was a landscaper when I would cut my cuticles and I would shove my hands on dirt for hours and never got an infection even after freshly cutting my cuticles and not getting all the dirt out of my nails for days.
@peestalikix2914 ай бұрын
@@Antibeautyguru that’s nice but the cuticles u can cut like I said before they can cut live skin and cause an infection just like if u get a cut it can doesn’t mean it always will but u can get an infection she asked why a lot of people don’t do Russian manicures which includes the proximal folds and I gave an answer.

hi i’m russian nail tech and everything i can say is that cutting of cuticle is absolutely safe. the infection can be caused only by wrong sterilization of instruments we never use disposable things twice (like files, masks, napkins) and always disinfect scissors, cutters and stuff so if you disinfect your tools right your client will never get any infections 🥰
@lindsaypaige46284 ай бұрын
@@user-tx3sw7do7o as a Russian nail tech can you explain to me why I’ve never once seen a Russian nail “master” ever use proper terminology. Cuticle is the dead sticky tissue that grows ON the nail plate, while the proximal nail fold is the living skin and Russian nail techs call that cuticle.

In my state of FL it is illegal to cut live skin which is what a Russian manicure does….and if your tech is cutting live skin, reusing tools/files/utensils ect and overall just having a dirty space- I would be cautious. That’s asking for an infection. Because I am trained, licensed, and a private home tech I have infection control procedures in my home salon, and I know my girls are safe. But I would be cautious of those offering this still…
