As an American, I always appreciate when visitors film and upload their travels because this country is so big that I have not had the opportunity to see and explore nearly as much as I’d like. So I get to see things from others’ points of view, which is amazing and refreshing, and I get to see things that I have never seen (but hope to one day). Thank you so much for doing this! ❤ I hope you enjoy your stay and please come back to visit us again!

IT's a shame that you didn't get to the one in D.C. while you were there. At the one on the National Mall, you'd have seen the Wright Brothers plane (the first plane to fly), the Spirit of St. Louis (the first plane to cross the Atlantic... it landed in Paris), also the Apollo 11 Command Module (Apollo 11 was first on the moon). Where you went is an auxiliary museum for the really large planes and such. The one in D.C. is the main museum. Both are 'must see' museums though, so you saw some great stuff.

@@FrenchTasticExplorations I see that they were completely closed for a while but partially re-opened on October 14th. That's a shame, I think you'd have enjoyed seeing some of the cool things that they have there. I used to live about 5 or 10 miles away from it and as a kid in the 70's and 80's, loved going down to that museum.

Great video. One tip about Krispy Kreme next time you must get one at a store while they are being made and enjoy it hot straight off the line. A sign should be flashing in the window known as the "Hot light" which indicates they are being made at that moment. Also only get original glaze, nothing else. And this should preferably be in the southeastern USA at one the old original locations. It will taste a million times better than buying one at a grocery store.

A small point: this is not actually the National Air and Space Museum. This is the Udvar-Hazy Center, which is in Virginia near Dulles International Airport and is the annex to the main museum. The actual National Air and Space Museum is on the National Mall in downtown Washington DC and contains many of the most famous aircraft in history. The Udvar-Hazy was built to house the overflow from the main museum. The Udvar-Hazy is still an amazing place and absolutely worth a visit as it contains many of the largest aircraft that would take up too much room in the main museum.

The main Air and Space museum is actually closed until like 2025. They're gutting it and rebuilding the entire inside. I actually like the Udvar-Hazy center because of all the actual planes. It's a really cool place to visit, much bigger than even the main museum. There's a lot there.

@@StereoSpace Well worth it, also the Musee d'Orsay, which is worth a couple of days. Plus if you're on foot, like I always was, it's just a short side trip to the Musee de l'Orangerie. Find a good off-line GPS app, where you download the maps and don't need WiFi to use it, for your cell. It's pretty easy to get lost there if it's cloudy and you can't tell what direction you're walking, voice of experience.

My comment disappeared ... so here I try again! Excellent video, as usual of course! It's too bad you didn't have cider to go with the cider-donuts - that's the best way to have them! Generally, the best way to have donuts is with coffee, or with hot-cocoa or chocolate-milk ... or with just plain milk. So glad you got to visit the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum! I got to visit it a few times back in the 80s (when I was in college), when it was just another section of the Smithsonian's main Campus, 'on the Mall' in W.D.C. I thought *that* was so _very_ cool back *then!* Even though they didn't have even *1/5* of what you got to see. But I did get to see some examples of what you saw, when I visited the Strategic Air Command museum in Ashland, Nebraska. I got to see (& touch!) an SR-71, and walk through a *huge* WW2 bomber, and so much more! But they didn't have the space-related stuff that you got to see ... lucky you! I hope I'll see you going to the main Smithsonian Campus on the Mall in W.D.C.! There's *so much* to see there - more than you could see in a week! A huge Art Gallery, the American History museum, a Science & Technology museum ... and _much more!_ If you didn't get to spend at least a whole day visiting the various Smithsonian buildings - I might just cry, on your behalf! I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your videos of your trip!

I'm so glad you didn't skip the Air & Space Museum. When I was a kid, my family went through the museum in a day. I felt like I could've stayed a week, what with all the video-presentation sections. When I was there, they had the original 11-feet-long actual model of the starship Enterprise, from Star Trek, hanging from the ceiling. But I guess it wasn't there, as they refurbished it off-site. The Entemann's are about as good as you can get for something that's not offered in their own outlet. They sell only in supermarkets, but the Krispy Kreme's freshness is really best experienced at a Krispy Kreme retail store. Pretty good in the box, but warm, right out of the ovens at one of their locations is REALLY fresh. They ARE a bit small, however. This was so much fun. I was hoping you would've posted something today, and you DID!!!

The SR-71 Blackbird is such a cool jet. The same company that designed it, actually helped create the fictional Top Gun Mach 10 jet (SR-72 Darkstar). If you notice, the same Skunk logo on the tail of the Blackbird is on the jet in the movie! What’s even funnier, is the Chinese actually thought the prop that was built for the movie was a brand new high tech jet and diverted multiple satellites to take pictures of it 😂

I got to visit Udvar-Hazy in 2019 and it was amazing! The crown jewel for me was Space Shuttle Discovery. I saw Space Shuttle Atlantis down at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida (where we launch most of our rockets) and I teared up thinking about all the memories from my childhood of watching space shuttle launches. Anything and everything space related is incredibly cool, and I'm so glad you got to see one of our most treasured pieces from spaceflight history! If you ever make it down to Alabama, stop by the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville! It's an even bigger collection of spaceflight memorabilia from the beginning of spaceflight to the present.

3...2...1 Take off Marie! 👩‍🚀 🚀✨ It's good to see you heading out to old dominion to one of the best museums so far on your trip, the hangers there are so immense it's amazing that there is so much on display from the earliest to the more cutting edge, looking upon that ravaged seaplane from peal harbor & the enola gay close up really brings history alive. It's interesting seeing what's going on with the restorations , that looked like a 'Grumman TBF Avenger' , the navy's heaviest single- engine aircraft used to deliver torpedo's during WWII . Moving on to the space section, it's awesome getting to see the shuttle 'Discovery' again, I miss watching those live countdown/ landing missions , it's funny seeing how small & simple those satellites were at the beginning of the space race & inspiring to see how far we've come from the 50's with rockets like Titan, it's interesting learning more about what went into becoming an astronaut from the items on display, the meals back then weren't to appetizing & it didn't cross my mind that a woman would want to bring a make-up kit into space , that quarantine caravan was so cramped I wouldn't want to be in there for a week. The coolest fastest aircraft there the Blackbird SR- 71 is my favourite , eluding 100's of missiles during the cold war including over the DMZ in N Korea in 81 , the pilots were more like astronauts , I recall them saying how scorching hot it would get that the outer skin of the plane would expand, it's still futuristic to this day. It looks like you had so much fun immersing yourself with everything there, the small baby was cute but I'm not sure I'll fly in it with the wings being so short, it was also nice to see the french concord, it might be making a comeback. It wouldn't be a Marie blog without ending on one of your taste tests 🍩, there all so yummy 😋 the cider one I would try to with it being 🍂 hope you just took a few bites of your favourites & not the whole lot at once & the doggie had one to, next time you go back to America there's the space center in Huntsville Alabama that will blow you away along with Cape Canaveral of course & if your passing through Dayton Ohio you can get to sit in a cockpit & dream away, looking close to home there's a big display next year & may want to visit France's most famous air/space museum at 'Le Bourget' within 10 mins of Paris on the A1 motorway. Thanks again, I'm thoroughly enjoying your adventures, hope your feeling great & have a wonderful spooky Halloween. 🧡 😊 🪂✌️

Marie, when you were looking at the space shuttle it reminded me of about 30 years ago when we toured Cape Canaveral, Florida, where the launches take place. We were at a demonstration of the heat resistant tiles that are glued to the outside of the space shuttle. The guy that was giving the presentation had a tile sitting in a metal stand, then turned on a propane torch and then turned out the lights. In the darkness we could see the tile glow bright red. Then the tile starts moving through the darkness. I, and I am sure everyone else, thinks that he is transporting it in the metal stand that it was sitting in. They turn the lights back on and he has the tile in his fingers, probably only two inches from where it is glowing from the heat. It is incredible heat resistant material.

Hi Marie!! Oh my goodness, the atmosphere you created on EP 3 made me feel like I was actually there with you two the whole day - more than any video I've ever seen!! I love that so much, taking me with you through the unbelievable U.S. Air and Space Museum 🤗!! I have never seen so many planes under a single roof, and there is so much to be amazed by, beginning with the Enola Gay carrying "Little Boy" that would soon end the Pacific side of WWII! And then the huge Boeing emerged into view, along with the Air France Concorde - how cool!! (I loved the blue top/white bottom/red nose prop plane 😂) You even peered inside the Enola Gay from above! The seaplanes and hang glider and Bud Light planes were fun, and it was interesting to see the restoration workshop, including a 10-ton lift, wow. And DISCOVERY, which you look so cute in front of, is really gigantic as our Space Shuttle, and next to capsules, a space walker, and the quarantine trailer, where we saw inside :) ! There were amazing satellites, the little flying cart, rockets and the big space suit. Then you showed the Mars Pathfinder, with 1/2 year journey to Mars, carrying the little Sojourner Rover too, and that IGLOO for pallets of instruments and experiments. That history of Rockets brings back so many memories, as our family friend, space physicist and scientist, was present at the first rocket launch, all the way into NASA's space flights (they had him on the phone for every single launch until his death!) - smartest man I ever knew! Can you imagine sending a needle dispenser to form a ring of needles all the way around the earth!! I can't, lol 🤣! The development of technology is shown beautifully, and I loved the big rocket engines, the capsule flotation bags for ocean landings, hygiene and makeup kits, absorption garments, cookies - an inside look at an astronaut's life in space!! And what a beauty, the fastest jet-propelled plane, with you posing in front of it 🥰, Blackbird, flying LA to DC in about one hour!! Helicopters, seaplanes attacked at Pearl Harbor (my dad was stationed in Hawaii), USS Abraham Lincoln, a wood plane, and best of all, SKY BABY with Marie actually taller in front of it - so cute 🤗❗What beautiful views you shared from the Observation Deck at the end. You had a delicious meal at Woomiga Korean Barbeque, and you know, I had no idea what food I was looking at when you showed those first few dishes 😂🤣! You seemed to enjoy your Entenmann's Apple Cider donut along with your chocolate sprinkle Krispy Kreme!! I have one of those near me 😁. Wow, Marie, you took me with you on the most wonderful tour of the most amazing museum I've seen in a long time, maybe ever, and what a wonderful job you did in doing that‼! Your video work is just so good, and you poured a lot of time into this wonderful gift to us . . . thank you so much 💕! Take special care of yourself now, please, Marie 💗🙏❣

If you have an interest in history, there's a very interesting story behind the ship that delivered the atomic bomb, that was later dropped by the Enola Gay. The ship was the USS Indianapolis. Great video! Love that museum - especially the control tower, it's really cool that you can watch the planes landing at Dulles & listen in on the air traffic control guys talking to the pilots. Back when the concorde was still flying that airport was one of the two on the east coast that it flew into. I worked a couple miles away along the landing path and would sometimes see it passing right overhead around quitting time. It always felt cool to see it. Cider doughnuts are best when you get them at an orchard straight from the fryer. (Though Entemen's is a good brand as far as grocery store baked goods go.)

One thing I remember about seeing two aircraft in particular in person is that the Concorde was much smaller than I expected it to be and the space shuttle was much bigger than I expected it to be.

That museum is totally incredible. I loved watching. I was able to see that Discovery Space Shuttle land from the freeway at Edwards Air Force Base in California. That was amazing with the sonic boom when entering the earth’s atmosphere. 😀

It's been ten years since I've been to that museum, and you've made me want to go again. It appears that they've added a lot of outer space related items around the space shuttle, that weren't there when I visited. That's my favorite part of the museum.

Marie, on your next visit, you need to get to an airshow. One of the largest shows in the US, is located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. It is called "EAA, Oshkosh" and you can see some of these aircraft flying. It is an amazing experience to witness a B-29 start-up and proceed to take off!

Great job exploring the museum, it is amazing how many aircraft types that have been built. The space section is so interesting when you see how big and how small things that went into space are. Krispy Kreme doughnuts are enjoyed nationwide and they are so good.

I love how you really appreciate and enjoy most of the food. I watch a few channels with people from Italy, and all they do is criticize every single thing they eat, followed by how much better the item is in Italy. Pastries, bread, pizza, ice cream, pasta, etc. it’s not all meant to taste the same as it does in your country, and if it did, what would be fun about trying different foods when you visit another country or continent? Thank you for giving good and honest opinions, without telling people how much better the item is in your country!

Bonjour Marie! I went to that museum in 1984 and it's interesting to see what is still there, along with all of the many things that have since been added. Entenmann's makes really good "store bought" (not fresh) baked goods especially donuts. Fun fact: If you went to a Cider Mill (where Apple Cider is made,) many make donuts there and they usually are plain and cinnamon sugar. There may be some other flavors, but not usually Apple Cider Donuts. Those are made to "recreate" the experience of going to a cider mill and having cider, donuts, and apples, lol! Krispy Kreme you need to warm the original glazed, but you haven't lived until you've gone to an actual Krispy Kreme store and got an original glazed fresh and hot right off the production line. Amazing. Thanks for sharing! Bonne journee! ~Be Blessed

She didn't go to the same Museum that you went to in 1984. She went to a somewhat new (2003) auxiliary museum located in Virginia, so it didn't exist in 1984. The one that you went to is the actual National Air & Space Museum in D.C. where the Apollo 11 CM is located, the Wright Flyer, the Spirit of St. Louis, and so much more history.

WOW! I am so happy you are having such a great time. Wish you had much more time to explore more, but we do understand the limited time when visiting other places. Have fun. Be safe and make the best of your adventure as you can. When you get to come again, NASA the mission control is here in Houston, and is a great adventure.

Here in the U.S. we have what we call cider mills. They are apple collection and processing facilities that open seasonally usually on apple orchids. There they sell many fresh apple products including doughnuts. A cup of warm apple cider and a fresh apple fritter doughnut is about American as you can get!!! Look up an apple fritter recipe and make some fresh with your mom.
