@@Fatty.D.McButterpantsoh Jesus, we all know why you’re making a big stink about it being a Republic. But I’d like to point out that it is a DEMOCRATIC Republic. “Representative democracy involves the election of government officials by the people being represented. If the head of state is also democratically elected then it is called a democratic republic.”. As someone with a BA in History that is halfway through my Masters degree - please stop trying to insinuate that we are not a democracy because a republic is just 1 form of democracy. I mean come on - Thomas Jefferson was the leader of the DEMOCRATIC-REPUBLICAN party! 🤦‍♀️

Hey Marie 🧢 ⛰️ 🐻 it's a Long comment again "Montani semper Liberi " hope you don't mind Such a glorious sunny day for a drive to one of West Virginia's most historical towns, how charming those houses are, I like how they've kept it all so well preserved with the personal items on display along with your informative commentary with some interesting firsts. It's remarkable learning about how willing John Brown was to take a stand & fight back against the injustice of slavery even before the civil war started, new visitors can find out more about the raid at the wax museum that's also there . That burger 🍔 for lunch looked sooo tasty & I'm glad there keeping all the oldie recipes ideas going, I don't think you got a chance to sample the old 'true treats' candy & chocolate they've been researching there, if I knew sooner I would have let you know. I did like the views of the creek & cliffside you went across, the bridge does has a rustic beauty about it. Trekking along the Appalachian trail did appear quite tranquil & less active then the summer months, it's a good opportunity to practice your animal tracking skills 🐾, it's funny that you could cross state lines without even knowing it , I not sure if signposts would matter or not, it's impressive that anyone would embark on such adventurous long journey it's probably best to do it in stages, it's sad talking about how animals lose their lives along the freeways , something I've come across with to many prayers to mention, anyway on a happy note the snake 🐍 was kinda cute & harmless, it doesn't surprise me your not afraid it is your ( native) American totem after all so it was probably meant to be. Going to the Bass Shop I can't say I was to thrilled about with all those stuffed animals but it does go with the territory & there was some cool kayaks , jackets & hats along with that plane , you wouldn't expect that at a store over here & buying anything bushcraft related is especially useful right now. On a finishing note I'm so glad that along this special journey you've gotten to see things from a different perspective on how American families live & it's opened up a new world of possibilities for you, what's coming next looks exciting, I found out recently if you turn down your fingers while making the peace sign it symbolises west Virginia. Thanks again, I'll keep on practice my french, have a blessed Sunday 💟 🤠✌️

I grew up in Maryland in the 70's and 80's. So I've been to a lot of those places. Harpers Ferry being one of them. In fact, in about 1979 or 1980, I went with the Boy Scouts and went white water rafting down that river at 7:45, it was a blast. As a 10 or 11 year old, it was 'high adventure'! lol. That bridge repair, looking like it was repaired with plywood was probably just a plywood form for concrete behind it. Once the concrete is set, the plywood would be removed. If you ever come back to the U.S. and are on the east coast, let me suggest Colonial Williamsburg and Yorktown. On a note about West Virginia, it was actually formed as a state, unconstitutionally (illegally), during the Civil War. All of West Virginia used to be part of Virginia, but West Virginia was torn away from Virginia and formed as a Union State (around 1863 if I recall correctly). It will never be reunited with Virginia to make a single state again, but it is an interesting footnote in history. What is 50 states, should (constitutionally), be 49.

I've never been to Harper's Ferry but it looks very interesting. Thanks for the introduction to it. I laughed out loud as you confronted that massive burger. I would have had the same thoughts as you and I would have used a knife also - no shame in that. Cool to see the Appalachian Trail -- I've never been on it. I liked that you got to see the snake. The Bass Pro Shop was overwhelming. I'm. not a hunter but I can imagine if you are it's like a paradise. A bit disconcerting how they put paw prints in the floor and have stuffed animals -- entities about to be killed by the rest of the stuff in the shop. Thanks again, Marie!

Welcome back to my home state of West Virginia. I hope you enjoy it. Loads of history in that little town and area. The trail is amazing and long.... If you ever get back to W.V. you need to go to Cass Scenic Railroad. It was a part of a logging operation. They logged that mountain from the late 1800's until the 1960's. It is so impressive! So cool that you got to Harper's Ferry! Those 'living museum towns' are cool! I've been to a few, and it's always a treat for me (being a bit of a 'history buff')! I guess you didn't get to Gettysburg, PA, unfortunately. I've been there a couple times ... it's fascinating! The 'High-Water Mark' of the Confederacy. The tours there are fascinating! Were you on a tour in Harper's Ferry? I think I'll try to visit there next June; I'm sure I'll enjoy it like you did! I always wanted to hike the Appalachian Trail, back when I didn't have medical problems! Did you end up seeing any animals? The way to do it is to just find a good place to sit ... and (quietly!) wait. It might take 15 or 20 minutes, but I can assure you ... the animals will show up! If you sit very still and quiet, they might even come up to you! Doing it that way, I've had deer come within 10-ft. (3-m.) of me! At that distance, when they're up-wind of you, you can actually smell their scent! *So very awesome!* Looking forward to seeing your visit to Niagara Falls - my 'neck of the woods', so to speak! In fact, I was there only about 2 months ago. I'm pretty sure you're going to love it! BTW, were there problems with your U.S.A. Episodes #4 & #6? They never showed up on my list.😭 I hope I can find/get them! P.S. - the acne thing? Keep some 'alcohol prep pads' with you, and wipe your face every few hours. It'll dry your skin a bit, but that helps get rid of the acne, after a couple days. Back home, you'll be back to not-so-greasy foods, so ... oh, right ... you're already back home.(🙄What a dummy!)

Do you know what the most deadly animal is in the US? It's deer. Collisions with cars kill so many people. I was brought up in north central Pennsylvania. Once I began driving, I was told if a deer crosses in front of you, slow way down, and watch where it came from for the next deer to jump in front of you. People tend to "Oh look. A deer.", and watch the deer that ran across, and they never see the next one.

They people you're staying with are keeping you busy. I hope you're enjoying it all. One thing I want to say about hitting animals, yes people are careless, but animals will also run out into the street without a thought. If a deer gets spooked, then will run and can end up jumping into the car. It's the same with squirrels. Most animals don't look both ways before the cross the street. But, I do think less would get hit of people had their eyes on the road all the time. And don't apologize for your English. It's amazing.

Road trips are popular in America and a rite of passage for most young adults. Off the road (sometimes barely) but off radar are amazing and/or bizarre things. See: (on YT) Lucas, Ks, Cahokia Mounds, Exodusters, The Steamboat Arabia (KC, Mo), Pullman Car Museum (near Chicago) Mastodon State Park (Imperial, Mo), The Blue Whale (Route 66), Soulsby Shell Service Station-Mt. Olive, IL, New Ulm, Mn German Festival, Mesa Verde's Cliff Dwellings, Custer State Park (Custer, South Dakota), Tractor Pulls, U.S. Air Force Academy (open to public, Colorado Springs, Co), Quilt Exhibition Museum in a rest area, (Exit #7, I-24) Paducah, Ky, Metropolis, IL. Colorado Springs, Co), The Silverton Durango Railroad, the mansions of Lookout Drive (Peoria IL and old vaudeville), The Great Scenic River Road (Mississippi River), anyways no matter which direction with some research all along the way is littered with unique or interesting things, sometimes outrageous and hilarious. Glad to see you enjoyed it. Also, the tow path on the Maryland side is part of a trail that allows you to walk or bicycle from Washington DC to Pittsburgh PA.

Gotta be careful of copperhead snakes when hiking in the Blue Ridge. They blend in well with the fallen leaves. Canebrake rattlers too. You see canebrakes and copperheads as road kill often when they attempt to cross the road or sun themselves

Not sure if you got to hear the story about the raid on the arsenal at Harpers Ferry. John Brown, an anti-slavery activist from Kansas, had a plan to seize guns and ammunition from the arsenal in order to equip a revolt of slaves in southern states. The raid failed, and Brown was executed. The commander of the troops that retook the arsenal was Robert E Lee, who later became the commanding general of the confederate Army of Northern Virginia during the American Civil War.

Ah, Bass Pro Shops....where you'll overpay for every firearm, but they'll probably have the one you're looking for or they'll call someone and get it. ;).

Yeah, hitting deer isn't carelessness, they are a bit suicidal. My mother had one jump off a cliff and land on the roof of her SUV.

My family has 10 acres of property in the lower Appalachian mountains. Half will soon be mine. Log cabin, and off grid. Hope you enjoyed your time there! Fun Fact: While exploring inland along the northern coast of Florida in 1528, the members of the Narváez expedition, including Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca, found a Native American village near present-day Tallahassee, Florida whose name they transcribed as Apalchen or Apalachen. Whether or not Native Americans are truly native is now in doubt due to discoveries of Slavic Tribe artifacts that predate Native Americans in North America. More investigating is currently. By the way, the pimples are not due to the foods here. It is a change in humidity levels. Especially on a plane where humidity levels drop below 20%. This causes your oil glands to work overtime to keep your skin moist. Then you land back into a proper humid environment and the excess oil causes a backup in the pores on your skin causing pimples. Fun Fact: The United States is the only country that has all of the climates found on Earth.

At 7:28 you actually show a hotel that was featured on Gordon Ramsay's show, "Hotel Hell" Town's Inn!! It was in 2016 though. Again @ 7:33 more of a straight on shot.

Cannot wait to see your reaction to Maid of the Mist, Timmie bits and CN Tower and desperately hope you ate in revolving restaurant at top. The market in Toronto is wonderful as is the intersection of York and Front Streets where commuter morning traffic arriving by train makes people appear like exploding popcorn to the street. A cruise on the St. Lawrence is so much fun. Toronto's China Town seems bigger than in New York. I love/hate NYC. It is an exciting city but if you have to drive in it as I did you dread going there. The West is sooo much different than anything you saw on this trip so you must make another North American Trip.
