Lovely movement and watch. I like the saying in watchmaking that "if you can see the oil, there is too much". Just watched and enjoyed your chat with Horology Biology. I think that I enjoy my vintage tools as much as my vintage watches.

The best thing about vintage watches is the fact that some of them are still an innovation today, when I wear a vintage watch I identify with the engineers who designed the various parts, the craftsmen who built them and the watchmakers who over the course years have kept them. Magnificent work as always

A beautiful cinematographic narration, that guides the spectator on restoring a vintage watch movement explaining each step and parts. It displays not only the great craftsmanship behind the design and assembly of the watch, but also showcases the important heritage of vintage movements. It is there, where one clearly sees the mechanical evolution towards perfect time keeping whilst creating a piece of art. This is why I like vintage mechanical watches.

Growing up, my Dad wore mechanical watches, and even, when quartz ones came to the market, my Dad kept his mechanical ones, as we grew, he gave us mechanical ones, manual wind "see-through" cases, and it was mesmerizing looking at the mechanism moving inside the case; that way we (my siblings and I) came to appreciate the ingenuity of mechanical watches and I love how these complex machines exist in such a tiny space. A friend of the family was a watchmaker and he serviced our watches, and it was also a great experience visiting his shop, he had on display the washing machine and some of those machines that test the watches that should work in all directions. I love watchmaking and lately, I would like to learn how to maintain mechanical watches myself.

It’s always fascinating to see how intricate watch mechanisms are! To answer the question, I’d say that vintage watches represent a time in history, there’s a certain “myth” to them. We collect watches in my family and to wear a watch that stood the test of time and had a history already bears a sentimental significance that no new watch can equal. I look forward to new videos, thank you!

Hi, great restauration as usual. I did not expect anything else from you. I bought recently my first watchmaking tools and startet getting into the hobby. For me these old timepieces are a statement. I love vintage watches because they're literally a piece of history. One reason why people buy watches from luxury brands is because of their rich history. You have to understand that a brand like Rolex was founded more than a hundred years ago, surviving two world wars several economic depressions. It's one thing to learn off this history and say that's cute but still go for a modern watch but it's a whole another thing to own an actual piece of history. Vintage watches were made in a different time made for and by a different set of people so yes it's pretty much like time travel.
