Which is why she is perfect for the RC. As someone who plays a Breya Thopter Tribal deck that has Time Sieve and the Thopter Sword combo in it but also anthems that specifically break the combo, I agree completely.

For real, Olivia's comments starting at 1:13:20 are exactly what I love about Commander. I have decks that could be optimized to be more competitive. I have decks that start out with a "weak" concept and try and work on it. I have not one, but *two* decks focused on venturing into the Vecna-damned Dungeon! I play Commander to have fun, and for me fun doesn't necessarily mean winning. So hats off to you both, for your great content. And now off to Patreon....

Not trying to be that guy but unfortunately Nyxbloom doesn't triple the mana produced by "gold" but does for "treasure." So a lot of Rebell's play may not have happened since she didn't keep them separated by type. Awesome episode though!

1:33:57 There is actually a combo that works super similar to the one Brad played through, but it only works once the Field of the Dead was revealed. -Bounce Uro to hand using the Sanctum of Eternity -Recast and resolve Uro, making two ETB triggers -Resolve the “Explore” trigger, drawing the revealed Field of the Dead and playing it (Field of the Dead triggers, with the Uro sacrifice trigger still on the stack. Cloudstone Curio also triggers, wanting to bounce a land, as does Hebron Crab) -Tap any two untapped lands, one for 3 Blue mana and the other for 3 Green mana Here’s the loop-with a Hedron Crab trigger, a Cloudstone Curio “land-bounce” trigger, a Field of the Dead trigger, and an Uro “sacrifice” trigger all on the stack in that order: -Resolve Hedron Crab, milling an opponent with cards left in their library for three cards -Resolve Cloudstone Curio’s “land bounce” ability, bouncing any tapped land that enters the battlefield untapped -Resolve Field of the Dead’s ability of making a Zombie token (the Zombie token triggers the Cloudstone Curio, wanting to bounce a creature) -Resolve Cloudstone Curio’s “creature bounce” ability, bouncing Uro to hand -Uro’s “sacrifice” trigger fizzles because it’s currently in Brad’s hand -Recast Uro using the appropriate color combination from the mana floating in your mana pool -Uro ETB triggers both of its own abilities and the Cloudstone Curio -Decline the Cloudstone Curio ability -Resolve the “Explore” trigger on Uro, drawing a card and putting the bounced “enters untapped” land onto the battlefield (this triggers Hedron Crab, Cloudstone Curio’s “land bounce” ability, and Field of the Dread) -Before resolving any abilities, tap the land that entered with the Uro for 3 of whatever color of mana Brad has less of in his mana pool. Amazing game! I've seen Rebel before playing CEDH so wasn't surprised to see this level of shenanigans. And it was made all the better in a very curious give and take build. Loved it! NGL thought it was a lil naughty of Brad to go back on the "deal" with Rebel but it went full circle with the turn stealing and winning with your opponent's win con! lol Amazeballs. Props to Olivia's comments on fun/flavour vs optimisation. I'm so guilty of it myself. Loved to see pet cards and flavour wins! GG all

I ran a nasty temur clue deck back in Shadows Over Innistrad standard that was real fun...for me. Turns out it was real easy to investigate 5 or 6 times in a turn, and Tamiyo's Journal was a very cost effective means of cracking the clues.

So… extra land-drop permanents don’t work that way any more. “Brad” wouldn’t be able to keep playing additional lands. It counts the number of lands you have and are able to play. 305.2a To determine whether a player can play a land, compare the number of lands the player can play this turn with the number of lands they have already played this turn (including lands played as special actions and lands played during the resolution of spells and abilities). If the number of lands the player can play is greater, the play is legal.

Something to do with land drops. So bouncing and replaying Dryad doesn't give extra land drops. I'll have to ask Brad about it again.

Yeah I was wondering, too. What he showed implied, that he thought when playing a card that gives you an additional land drop, you accumulate them but in current rules that doesn't work, let's say it remembers how many lands you played

Brad was trying to bring back Fastbond lmao. Infinite landfall triggers can be accomplished by Felidar Guardian + Eldrazi Displacer + Infinite colorless mana combo, but unfortunately Brad wasn't playing white. However, having Nyxbloom Ancient works so well with Basalt Monolith for the infinite colorless part.

After looking at that Uro decklist... I wanna build a simic deck now. As a lover of all things rakdos... Just... Ooof. It can pop off so nicely. Also, due to Rebell milling everyone out with brads turn and the looping, going in turn order Olivia would've won, correct? Because Brad had draw triggers causing him to lose on his turn due to empty library, then Alias then Rebell, leaving Olivia last standing.

I agree with Olivia on olaying flavor cards in your decks for the fun of it. I took out my Sunforger package from my Boros Soldiers deck just so I could run Expendable Troops. Is it worse for it? Yes. Is it a hell of a lot more fun to just throw them into the red zone because, GET BACK TO THE FRONT! needs to be yelled at your own cards? Yes.
