Ok I just had to come back here and tell you about the craziest sequence I've had on Arena playing this deck. My opponent took control of Queza. I had Sheoldred and Lich's on the battlefield. I drew my entire deck gaining a ton of life. Then I cast Peer on my opponent. Queza's trigger resolves first then Lich's Mastery started to exile cards on the battlefield including itself losing me the game!

Having played a variant of this deck in actual Commander, you need to properly set and and seriously protect the combo (Queza+Lich's Mastery) or you're simply killing yourself. You want to have mana up for counterspell(s) when you cast Lich's Mastery AND a way to draw immediately, you cannot give your opponents a turn cycle to remove Queza and simply hope the combo stays in play so you can draw. Having both of the pieces out for a turn cycle and hoping for the best is how you lose with this deck.
@mordamen Жыл бұрын
To be fair, there's a HUGE difference between 1v1 and Commander. When you don't have to worry about 2 additional players potentially interacting with you, it's a lot easier to pull it off
@greengandalfziggy1 Жыл бұрын
@@mordamen True, but in 1v1 you're even more encouraged to play removal than in 4 player, so the combo is in-theory slightly more vulnerable. Most 4-player EDH decks focus on value engines, synergies, or themes rather than 1 for 1 removal (in part because it's a losing proposition to expend resources while the other players focus more on advancing their own gameplans)
@mordamen Жыл бұрын

When people play decks that steal from you I think they are just admitting they don't know how to build a competitive deck They are litterally hoping you are a better deck builder than them Seems like a weird way to play a competitive game to me
@oldmanmcgowan Жыл бұрын
I played against you recently and then your videos started showing up in my feed. I guess that's how the algorithm works. Anyways I had my suspicion that you were one of those guys who gets all giddy when you counter your opponents spell and then sit there wasting time holding priority and then again hitting the nail right on the head with the fact that you get red in the face literally when your opponent has interaction after 6 turns of both of you basically playing nothing but land go. Gg's either way, but for the record. Nobody cares as much as you about the win or loss, but your type of play style is just wasting peoples time including your own hoping that your janky 2 card combo is gonna work out on curve. I play a lot of strong decks and I've proven several times that I can go from bronze to mythic in a couple days. The only reason I even mention my own accomplishments is because random comments on the internet are often dismissed because people assume that all commenters are low IQ keyboard warriors with low skill. Then again I have noticed a rise in bot opponents lately which you can tell that they are just a script bot because the cards flicker in between game actions and there will be a programmed amount of time set for bluffing. I thought I might be going crazy, but then I looked it up and first thing that popped up on google was some kid bragging about the bot he created to play the game for him. Well you aren't as bad as those guys who use script bots, but you are wasting peoples time which alone again would not be so bad, but you are promoting that type of behavior to the community and that's why I'm putting in my two cents. Anyways GG. Just play elves or goblins or something if you can't come up with anything actually intellectual or actually fun to play. For real bro it's like you built a worse version of sanguin bond and for that I gotta give it the thumbs down.
@nottsfhj Жыл бұрын
so you lost to CGB and got salty, huh?
@oldmanmcgowan Жыл бұрын
@@nottsfhj actually I don't think I even lost the match, but I recognized the name and remembered the playstyle as it was recognizable. Like I said before I figured he was the kind of guy that gets all red in the face when his opponent is able to overcome his jank counter magic playstyle and I was right. My comment could have just not been made, but it was an opportunity for me to vent about the script bots flooding the game as well as the rope a dope blind pilot playstyle that leaves people having to do something else to occupy their time while their opponent reads the primer for their deck during play.
