Frequency Counter Kit - Programming Function

Hello I bought this meter from AliExpress and I assembled it correctly but it didn't work,when I first powered it through a 9v battery it didn't turn on so I switched to a 5v DC adapter it turned on but not with 0 in the forth segment instead the first segment keeps flashings and when I put my finger on the crystal oscillator or on the variable capacitor all the segment turn on one after the other...what do you think the problem is? Thank you.

it's been a while and I do not know the firmware well enough to comment much. But from the description that it didn't work for 9V, you might want to check all 3 TO-92 components. All three looks similar, but they are of different types, and 3 pins of each should be connected to exact circuits. The one in the middle, 7550, is a voltage regulator. others are transistors. If 7550 is bad, and/or the pins are not connected to the right circuits, the PIC IC could already see a damaging voltage when you plug in a 9V supply (I think the PIC IC works around 2-5V Vcc, but 7550 regulates the external 5-9V down to PIC IC's working Vcc range).
