I don't get it. The clap was triggered by the snare and the kick, right? (09:00 mins or so) That was the goal? The copy and invert EQ curve is great.

I wish you could sidechain all the individual filters in EQ8 like you do with the multiband
@brendamarmolejos81846 жыл бұрын
you can do it with izotope neutron´s eq

if you link Envelope to the gain of the nodes, you have a dynamic eq

If we expand dynamic range by making quiet (below threshold) sounds even quieter, is it called "compression" from now on? (9:07) 🤔

My idea for a topic is how to craft a real good Boom-Bap kick. I know that there are some processes to get there, but some add subs and blend them perfectly, some use other ways...

Hey man, love this vid and great explanation. It would be lovely if you made a video or give us some tips about EQ'ing different synths to make them sit together in say a Techno or House mix, I notice that when using a lot of synths (things that are not drums, vox, bass, percussions) they just seem to be taking a lot of frequency space. And I don't know how to EQ them, I think this masking technique could work very well for me though but I'd love your detailed opinion. Thanks

Imad Salimi Thanks for your comment. It works exactly the same way, if you find your synths take up too much room in comparison to another element in the song carve out that element and flip the eq on the synth.

I’ve been using this technique for a while but mixing itself is just still so goddamn hard
@dojo94855 жыл бұрын
Don't know. This seems like a classic example of mixing with your eyes instead of your ears. Not to mention all the phase warping happening across the board. I tiny bit of specific frequency masking in the kick/bass is a good method, but doing it across your entire composition with multiple EQ points seems like a recipe for disaster.

I agree also if you're trying to alter the sound of a sample why not use a different sample? Video would have been better if it was on live recorded instruments. If you can't capture a good sound pre-production there's not a lot of good you can do post-production
@sinofinance5 жыл бұрын
you make a youtube channel an share your techniques smart ass....in the audio community there are so many "seasoned" "experienced" dumb asses who claim they know everything but your music and mixes sound like utter shit. fuck off.
@ericsleveland98025 жыл бұрын
Stan Marttinez Yet found sound artist like hot sugar literally make amazing samples out of recordings of empty rooms, ambience etc.....So what you’re saying isn’t exactly true. A good producer can make good samples out of anything and sometimes even out of “nothing”.
@BobrLovr5 жыл бұрын
shut the fuck up, your music sounds like shit. Seriously why do all the smartasses make such crappy music? I've yet to see a smart ass comment where they actually had good mixing/music to back it up. Maybe if you spent more time taking their advice instead of bitching and trying to one up him you'd actually have something to show for it

@@IAmStanIAm That's basically what sound design is and what makes producing fun. By your logic, we'd all be using loops that didn't need to be altered, just drag and drop.

this doesnt really explain what a "masking" is, all i got out of this video was contouring around a frequencies peak the multiband sidechain trick was cool though
