This became a strong mnemonic tool, after letting it play several times and listening, then reading the Romaji then the Hiragana and Kanji, I noticed the discrepancy which reinforced the teaching from previous videos of yours. I checked the comments to verify what happened and you already had your correction up. Mistakes can end up being the best teaching tools! Thank you Sayaka, great video!

Whoa, the switch from 行きます to 行きません is fascinating. In English, the frequency modifier never changes the "yes/no" state of the verb E g. You never say "I rarely don't go to the gym" I assume that's not the literal translation of the Japanese, it's just interesting.

Great video. Kind of also inspired me a bit. Learning German too and I knew a few of the words so I decided, why not try both together. I realized rarely is a bit similar in both (seltan vs Mattani) and with "Never", there are two forms. Nie (never) and niemals (stronger, like never ever). So thank you for helping me learn two languages. Also Kanji are hard to write.....

It is interesting, since ほとんど is also like "most/almost all" f.e. I know this word from ほとんどの人 - "most of people", but in this case it's "hardly" because you have it paired with ません so it's like "almost every time do NOT go" :D

毎日 いつも 大抵 Usually よく 時々 たまに Occasionally あまり ない系 Opposite of occasionally 滅多に Rarely ほとんど Hardly Ever 全然 * I've only spelled out the ones I don't personally know well
@stefanpavlovic9350
@stefanpavlovic9350 5 ай бұрын
Well, this came in handy, especially because I was wondering just now about the following: How do you say "I never liked../I always liked...". 全然 , as far as I understand it, when used with negative has more the nuance of "not at all", as in: 「全然コーヒーが好きじゃない。」has more the meaning of "I don't like the cofee at all!", but this is not exactly the same as "I never liked coffee". Similarly, "I always liked coffee" doesn't sound like it should be translated as 「いつもコーヒーが好き。」. Any help would be appriciated.
