Matt thank you for this video. I bought my YEV from EVS last year and I love it! I even got the opportunity to talk to you about it when I first bought it! You answered all my questions, not just you but the other ones I spoke to in the shop. Thank you for the kind customer service and for the violin!

cool! thanks Matt for such a great review, it's great that I found your channel and now I can study different electric violins. It was these questions that interested me a year ago when buying YEV 105, but I did not know your channel yet. I had to ask other violinists who play this violin. and even a year later, I'm still interested in learning a lot about YEV 105. Thank you 🖐️😊

Thanks for yet another interesting video! I’ve been playing my 5-string YEV for two years now and I still love it. The G10 wireless fits so nice that one could almost think they had it in mind when they designed the YEV. But you are so right that the stall is to high. It is ok in first position but it gets really awkward higher up. Since I haven’t bought it from you guys I really have to find me a good luthier in Stockholm.

I found that a preamp was needed when going into some pedals (like the Mooer Radar). Without the preamp it sounded terrible.
@ElectricViolinShop3 жыл бұрын
Yeah - some pedals are not expecting the impedance that a passive electric violin has.

Hi, do you have a specific preamp to suggest for Yamaha YEV 105? :)
@BIGTREESJOE2 жыл бұрын
@@alexandrosgoulas the Fire-Eye Red-Eye seems to work well and is simple. The LR Baggs, Para Acoustic also works well but has a lot more tweakable parameters. Currently I just play directly into an HX Stomp with input impedance set to 1 M Ohm.

I’m looking at getting one of these. Just trying to decide between a 4 or 5 string. I currently play a 4 string acoustic.
@beseakos10 ай бұрын
Hey, I don’t know if you decided yet, but depends on the use. If you want to play jazz and transcribe a lot of solos then a 5 string is advised. I’m currently looking for a 5 string myself because I can’t play urbaniak transcriptions without the low C. Also you will be able to play pretty much any instruments’ repertoire that way.

Can you please give the distance in mm from the string to the finger board that you set for each string once you have cut the bridge ? Just wondering how much of a difference it makes. thanks

I am wondering if anyone can help me understand how the bridge can be changed. I need to understand only the electronic part. There is wire comes with replacement bridge. But what needs to be opened on the violin to be able to connect it? I could not find any manual about it or any video with bridge replacement. I am a luthier, I can replace it by myself, but before the customer comes, would be great to know about the wire.
@ElectricViolinShopАй бұрын
Look on the back. You'll see a strip of metal running down the center. Carefully remove that and you'll access the wiring. Those are VERY tiny solder joints. Enjoy!

@ but the new replacement bridge has some connector. So it’s just soldered?

Has anybody had issue where the frame breaks when using with a shoulder rest? The shoulder rest seems to put too much leverage onto the outside of the frame and it cracked the wooden frame after playing for 5 minutes.

Most shoulder rests are adjustable. You can try to tighten it. Also, they're not very expensive. It might be worth buying a new one.

Hey, I know it’s a little late now that the video was shot, but can I use my own bridge? The pickup looks like it’s just a clip that clips over a regular bridge and since I have a luthier whose setup I am familiar with, I would rather use the bridge he makes. Is that possible to remove the pickup and put that on a different bridge, or am I stuck with what yamaha supplies?
@ElectricViolinShop10 ай бұрын
You don't want to do that. But you could take this bridge to your luthier and if he's adventurous enough, he can shape it for you. It's tethered to the instrument, though, and most traditional luthiers will yell at you if you walk in with an electric. So... try it at your own risk.

I'm not a big fan of the ultra cheap (under $100) wireless systems. If you're playing for money, don't cheap out on gear. Why risk a $500 gig by trying to save $100 on gear?

Hi! I want to change my YSV 104 to YEV 104 or 105. But I have one question about bridge. In this video you said that before the selling this violin master lowers the bridge height. How much safe is it for this violin? High bridge is a big problem on YSV 104 for me. Unfortunately, I cannot contact your shop to buy a new YEV violin because I live in Russia, but I have contact with my master. Thanks in advance for your reply and sorry if sometimes is not clear, English isn't my main language. :)

Your question is very clear. The pickup for the instrument is near the bottom of the bridge. You can cut down the top of the bridge without hurting the instrument.

Hello! This violin does look gorgeous, but the price of Yamaha electric yev-104 violin in your online shop is relatively lower than the price of the exact same violin in other online shop(amazon, eBay, Yamaha official, etc). So I am kind of concerning the quality and function of this violin may be inferior. Would you like to tell answer this question for me? Thank you
@ElectricViolinShop3 жыл бұрын
Yamaha has a price called a MAP - a minimum advertisable price. It's the lowest price they will allow you to sell the instrument for. It's the price that most retailers charge. We sell instruments at MAP, meaning we don't take an extra profit over what Yamaha suggests. There is a bit of a shortage of YEVs right now, so some retailers are raising their prices above MAP. We don't believe in price gouging, so we continue to sell at MAP. Hope that helps.

@@hugoshen5910 There has been a disruption in the global supply. Most people who "have them for sale" don't actually have them at the moment. We're working to get them here as fast as we can. They're trickling in, so if you want to get one, your best bet is to click the "notify me" button under the price on the instrument you want. The website will send you an email when we get them in stock.
