So all kidding aside (my earlier comment about not eating) I've been on the hunt for a new desk set up for quite a while and I think this just might be the one. We have a similar aesthetic with lots of white and that has been a real challenge finding a desk that I like in white with great quality, a look that I really like and that's not outrageously expensive. Changing it up to a thick wood top like the maple with my white accessories will look good together. I have the same mouse (LOVE the MX Master) and El Gato boom arm in white. I think I will get the stand in white though and it's probably worth it to get the white modesty tray and coasters for it too. What also sold me on it was the desk shelf with the drawer. Very clean look and I like the minimalism. I'll pass on the Apple monitors for my MacBook though, they are nice but really too dang expensive and overkill for my needs. My 32" and 27" white 4k Samsung M70 smart monitors will do just fine. All in I think this is going to be the one I get for myself it'll just be Ramen noodles and PB&J's for the next year. 😏

If you're looking for desk pad that would be very comfortable for elbows / wrists, you may wanna have a look at fusionstrike original limestone desk mat. Been using it for 3 years personally and my friends, so far it's been great so we made a whole batch of them. Currently ship within UK but could sort out international shipment too. The rubber is made from sustainable limestone rock (instead of oil/petrol) which makes it more environmentally friendly than most desk mats out there. It's laminated with super stretch smooth nylon so it's mouse compatible and very gentle to skin.

The setup looks great, but it seems rather counter to functionality, leather mousemats are not the best, in terms of both acoustics and function, the surface *can* track but nowhere near as well as a good cordura or hard pad. I would Highly recommend using a nas instead of portable drives for more redundancy if you can, there are a few reasons for this, but in general I'll just say it's good practice. An alu headphone stand can warp the top headband over time, this may not be the case for airpods max, but will be for higher end headphones. I would highly recommend using an arduino or raspberry pi to automate the standing desk, the signaling is usually primitive and easy to reverse engineer, there are plenty of examples to follow (I've done this to my own, and using a couple of scripts and macros in my linux env has made it really nice to use). This last one is just a personal pet peeve, but I hate low refresh rate monitors, there's just something about the delay that irks my brain, especially when you will always have compositor lag. Also the magnetic cable management on the standing desk leg is definitely something I'm going to use myself. What I say by no means is an insult and I hope you don't take it as such, I'm rather terse with my language.

interesting to see you down size... I am working with a 34" UW and 27" in portrait orientation... I use a lot of programs and windows for my 9-5, so I am thinking about upgrading to 40" UW, and getting the LG DUALup... so I actually liked your initial setup... but I understand if someone doesn't need all the screen real estate it can be too much. having said that I do like clean minimalistic aesthetic, so I am trying to marry the two.. have a lot of screen real estate but clean and simple.

In 2015, I used a $50 ikea desk that I bought used with a hollow table top lol. I was praying it wouldn’t split in half sometimes. It took some time to finally upgrade the desk space and now I can’t stop upgrading 😅

I also got a widescreen monitor vertical at the left side. I had to get an extra tiltable g-sync monitor that matched the Hz to be sure it all got stable.

Saw something that might help you organize all those peripheries. If you ever intend to upgrade your monitor riser again I'd recommend the LANQ PcDock Pro Max, it has wireless charging, built-in usb hub and an integrated wifi adapter (although it is black so it might not match that new desk). :)

Love your post, but it annoys me that most desks in videos like yours use moving up/down desks. It is simpler, more elegant, cheaper, and less risk of mechanism break-down when you get a (fixed) tall desk and a tall chair instead. That way you can stand to work and when tired, you sit down on the tall chair. Why people don't think of this?

I’m not running both at 5K because the text will be too tiny but I’m still getting 5K picture quality running at 2880x1620 @ 60hz. The TB4 Dock I’m using helps with this.
