Too bad he couldn’t save Will from marrying Jada Pinkett in real life. It saddens me that Will Smith would rather be with a gaslighting, abusive, obnoxious, no talent having, unfaithful man-hater than be with someone who’d actually love him and be devoted to him. I hope Alfonso Ribiero can reach out to him or something.

Thing is, Carlton didn't give a shit whether Janet liked him or not: he didn't stand up to her as a power play or pimp move or "putting her in her place." If Janet got offended, he would have been like, "whatever," and take her home and enjoy the rest of his evening without her. Which is why Will and Jazz couldn't pull it off, because they were trying to use assertiveness as a pickup strategy, whereas Carlton didn't give a crap and just wanted to enjoy his goddamn dinner.

Living with Will for a few years taught him how to stand up for himself more.
