If you get really into this & want the most efficient option, the way I do it is 1. Put seed into a jar of water overnight (slightly warm water if you want to speed up germination rate), 2. In the morning, empty the jar into a hanging "strainer" made of flyscreen. 3. dunk strainer into an ice cream container or similar full of water, or place strainer under tap & then hang somewhere that it can drip water initially (I hang on a cupboard handle, with the ice cream container I dunked it in left under it). Repeat at least once or twice a day, but the more often & warmer the water used (only luke warm though, not hot) the faster the growth To make a flyscreen strainer, buy new screen from a hardware store & cut into a square (about 20-30cms) & then attach strings to each corner & tie them together at a convenient height (generally about 20cms from the flyscreen) & then attach a single string to this point if you want length for hanging. You can also sew up the edges a bit if you find the seeds washing out when putting into the water or under the tap, where to sew will be obvious, but it's not needed I find this to be the fastest method to get seeds to grow, as it seems to hold just the right amount of water for best growth & it's super quick in maintenance each day. There's also professional seed sprouters you can buy for human sprouting too, they look nicer, but I really find the flyscreen method faster for their growth

Hey, try shaving broccoli real early fine (the tip) into there seed bowl, and put a teaspoon of seed in there with it. then they will start to know what it will taste like. Then clip it to the side of there cage. They will start to love the clip and know it means food. Then you can start putting diffrent veggies into here for them to explore! Hope these helped. And if these doesnt work then you can always convert them onto pellets.

Hi! Where I live there's no pellets.. I can only feed my birds sprouts and veggies and seeds, is that okay? Pellets are so expensive because here they don't feed any pellets to their birds :( but ONLY seeds and they said that veggies/fruits is just "extra fooding" Or whatever they call it.... I think it's true, we are keeping birds as PETS and they won't live in the wild where they fly nonstop finding food (they get more exercise and they mostly eat seeds and they won't get any diseases like fatty liver disease) So I want to ask, is it okay?

Lori, vinegar is safe for cleaning bird cages, but I wouldn't leave it on food. It's not a food they naturally eat and can cause dehydration if too much is ingested. Rinse it off before feeding the birds.

@eloraquarl26847 жыл бұрын
You could try growing your own millet by taking bird seed and planting it in a pot or you could eat the fruit in front of your budgie so it's more motivated to eat the fruit.
@saltybok-choygaming84046 жыл бұрын
this might sound like a mean thing to do to your bird but don't feed him millet,millet is more of a treat,fill his food bowl with a seed mix(that you'd feed a budgie normally) and slowly guide him towards it with your hand,if he doesn't eat it, continue this every day,if he still doesn't eat it add a little bit of the millet seeds to the mix(if it doesn't have them already)

A pellet diet is essential for a healthy parrot. Your birds diet should be 60% Pellets 30% Fruits and Veggies, and 10% other (treats and seeds). It may take a while to get your bird to eat pellets and a lot of people find it really hard to get their birds to eat them, but it will definitely be worth it! I made a youtube video all about how to get your parrot to eat pellets that you can watch here if you like: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqebgJ9rjbd7eNE Also, many birds wont eat fruits and veggies and its even harder to get them to eat those. I'm still working on that myself. Hope this helps!
